Darth Maul's bloodspray

This is proof that Darth Maul's bloodspray was in the ORIGINAL theatrical release of The Phantom Menace. Here's the link, courtesy of Google Groups:

http://groups.google.com/group/rec.arts.sf.starwars.misc/browse_thread/thread/57a6b3c66e304410/b2b8314ef1b6eef5?lnk=gst&q=darth+maul+blood+spray&rnum=1#b2b8314ef1b6eef5

Richiekim 17:50, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

With relation to this, I should probably expand on the comment on the page to explain that the bloodspray is made more obvious. Lucas even has talked about it explaining that most Jedi cut at a regular pace, thus searing wounds, however Obiwan and Anakin (though not while Vader) both instead of doing it at that pace, their "force" and speed is such that it doesn't sear straight away and leaves blood pouring (the best example of this is the entire series first case of dismemberment in the cantina by Obiwan where there's a highly obvious bloodspray. Initially the show of blood was there but this feature was highly amplified between the initial release and the VHS release and further enhanced still for DVD. I can provide references to Lucas' comments relating to this too. --lincalinca 10:36, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a Tech Support site for Wii - Maybe you can help me

Hi Richie, I am new here and I was looking for support information about the Wii Console. I could not find in Wikipedia and in the end I found it in a great tech support site that have many consumer electronics products. Its called Fixya and it is a free tech support community. I was wondering if you can help me, I would like to add it to the Wii Entry here in Wikipedia as an external link but I don't have permission to do so... I wrote about it in the discussion but nobody replied. Here is the page for the Wii Technical Support & Troubleshooting page. Let me know what you think. JerryGold 10:12, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's quite fine to be bold when editing but if you make a significant change to a template and somebody undoes it, it's best not to do it again without sufficient discussion. Red Sox Uniforms

The Red Sox, much like the Cubs at the Yankees exhibition, wore their practice jerseys, the jerseys they and everyone else have been wearing throughout spring training. The Yankees and Mets were the only team wearing their actual uniforms. As such, we can just wait until Friday, when the Red Sox are in Anaheim, to make a change.--The Silent Wind of Doom (talk) 01:26, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Holy crap! I had originally gone with the blue socks, because low-quality footage of Buckner's error gave me the impression that they wore blue socks with the road uniform in 86. Since the new road gray is based on that design, I thought that the socks would be the same color. When I realized the mistake, but it was brought to my attention that somewhere else had featured blue socks, I figured we might as well just sit tight and wait until the uniform made an appearance. Well, the Sox are playing a game in Anaheim as we speak (or, rather, as I type), and, holy crap, they're wearing blue socks! I seriously thought the blue socks idea was going to be debunked, but the socks that go with the road uniform, or at least the blue alternate, are indeed navy. I guess that clears that up. We can find out about the standard road gray probably tomorrow.--The Silent Wind of Doom (talk) 04:37, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bob Sheppard

Hello. I notice you have had some edit warring issues in the past, but to have one over a detail like this is silly. I am quite aware that there was a New York Giants baseball team, 50 years ago. There was also a New York Yankees football team 50 years ago, by the way. (I mentioned it later in the Sheppard article). If we were referring to those two teams, it would be necessary to identify their league affiliations, to distinguish them from the modern teams, as I did when I mentioned the football Yankees. When referring to the modern teams, everyone (even non-sports fans) assume you are referring to them unless you specify otherwise. And clogging up sentences (especially leads) with superfluous minutiae is strongly discouraged in the Wiki style manual. I hope you will find the compromise adjustment I made acceptable -- if not, please make your case on the article's talk page instead of changing it again. Thanks! I go with the primary cap color for the header and the secondary color for the groups...just so you know. Does it have to always be the "primary jersey color?" And there's more blue than orange to be found on the regular jerseys. Tom Danson (talk) 05:19, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New Orleans Pelicans

Thanks for disambiguating the basketball and the baseball teams. However, you may have just overlooked it or maybe you weren't aware, but when you change the destination of an existing redirect like you did with New Orleans Pelicans to point instead to the basketball team, you need to change all the existing pages that were using New Orleans Pelicans to refer to the baseball team. Don't worry, I went ahead and individually changed each article and have them point correctly to New Orleans Pelicans (baseball). If you need more info, you can refer to WP:USURPTITLE. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Mandarin in Iron Man 3.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Mandarin in Iron Man 3.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NtheP (talk) 18:14, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disney issues

Hello, Richiekim. I'm here to ask you for your assistance in resolving a few matters in some Disney articles. Below, I've provided links to the respective talk pages where the two main contentions are being discussed and a brief description of the issue at hand.

A. Issue #1 - Whether or not Disney Enterprises, Inc. exists as its own functioning entity, operating as the parent of The Walt Disney Studios but simultaneously as an active subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company.

B. Issue #2 - Whether the studios' distribution unit as a whole or one of that unit's specific film banners (e.g. Disney, Touchstone, etc.) should be identified as the distributor in the respective infobox parameter for all film releases.

I would greatly appreciate your input since neither discussion has gained any traction without there being disagreements and edit reversions erupting every now and then, hindering the chances of a consensus ever being reached. I'm also asking the same from other editors, in an effort to gather as much diverse opinions as possible, in the hopes of reaching a consensus that satisfies every editor's concern. The Avengers 2

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.

Corrections to Template:New York metro area sports venues

  • Hi Richiekim. I write with kind heart in regard to the aforementioned template. I noticed you placed an undo on all the (countless hours and days of) work I put into organizing the information. I can understand your perspective of trying to minimize. Though, to clarify, the title refers to all sports venues in the vast New York metropolitan area that accounts for parts of four states. The previous incarnation, though a good starting point, was severely lacking in information, and seemed more like an overview of venues in or relatively near New York City rather than the scope of the whole metropolitan area. It also did not account for Connecticut and Pennsylvania, nor distinguish between counties within the states, nor venues between collegiate and professional or semi-professional, among many other important things. With regard to the "red links" as you pointed out in your reasoning for undoing the work, those links are intended to make vastly aware that many venues need to be written about. Still, that isn't to say that they don't exist, or reason enough to omit. In fact I had started on several of them which I was completing, thereby already making the links "blue". In addition, many users will likely collaborate and also fill many of them in. I think that you are also probably trying to narrow down the info to the venues used by premier teams, which I also thought of doing, and have been making clearer so far over here: List of New York metropolitan area sports teams. I am expanding and connecting both of these contents. I can continue to detail the information to highlight these, or a new template can be made for "New York metro area sports venues used by New York pro teams". I hope that I can collaborate with you in making a more sound and thorough list. Cheers. comment added by NYCWikiKid (talkcontribs) 15:54, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

From NYCWikiKid user talk page:

NY Metro Area Sports Venues template

Hi NYCWikiKid. As per WP:REDLINK, "Although red links to notable topics are permitted in lists and other articles, do not overlink in the mainspace solely for use as an article creation guide. Instead, editors are encouraged to consider Write the article first, or to use WikiProjects or user spaces to keep track of unwritten articles." I have undid your revisions for now. If you want to include the category revisions you have made without the red links, that's fine. Richiekim (talk) 19:51, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Richiekim. First, I wrote on your talk page commencing the dialogue regarding the first undo you did to Template:New York metro area sports venues. I believe I spoke candidly and in a polite fashion. I was amicably reaching out to you and extending my support to coordinate an ideal version that would meet the needs of everyone. I also expressed alternative solutions to the template. Instead of you writing back to me on your page to at least consult on some concepts to implement or amend, you simply determinedly re-undid the work yet again after I corrected it. Then you write back on my talk page with the quote above in reference to "red links". Let me give you a few quotes of my own from the very page you should have read more in detail:
"It is useful in editing article text to create a red link to indicate that a page will be created soon or that an article should be created for the topic because the subject is notable and verifiable. One study conducted in 2008 showed that red links helped Wikipedia grow." "Good red links help Wikipedia—they encourage new contributors in useful directions, and remind us that Wikipedia is far from finished."
With that concluded, the links created were essential on helping Wikipedia grow. Instead of simply clicking on undo for the sake of being right, talking with others in a community that is willing to converse is more ideal because in the end it is not your Wikipedia or mine, it belongs to everyone who wants to learn, share, and communicate. Like I originally stated on your talk page, the original template appears more of a collection of venues in New York City and those in near proximity used by premier teams. However, the template is for sports venues used throughout the New York Metropolitan Area, which represents parts of four states, hence the new list I made being so detailed. I am not interested in engaging some petty tit for tat undo frenzy. I'm interested in placing solid information. Whenever you feel the need to click undo to someone's effort, one which I invested several hours and days to accomplish, the minimum you should do, as a courtesy, is to at least contact the user first and create a useful dialogue. Cheers NYCWikiKid (talk) 22:46, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I take issue with your last statement. I contacted you and gave my reasoning for my edit. Whether or not you agree is your prerogative. In a effort prevent edit warring, I suggest you create a discussion in Template talk:New York metro area sports venues and get input from other editors to come to a consensus about your proposed changes. No hard feelings. Richiekim (talk) 14:33, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • No you did not contact me. You responded to my initial questioning of your actions. The suggestion you are now bringing could have been made before you eagerly undid the work I did. Like I said, a discussion would have been made and I would have worked with you. No hard feelings, but for future reference and the consideration to millions of editors out there, communicate first before you undo extensive work and information. Hello Richie, I noticed you recently created Thor in film. I am not sure if you were aware that another editor previously created the same article but it was decided that the article should be redirected. Also it seems that there this no clear consensus on what to do with these types of articles, with some feeling that they aren't necessary. 49ers

They haven't moved yet. The stadium isn't even built yet. And they're still in the playoffs. And there's no intent to change their name, as far as I can see. So please slow down, and write only what sources already report, and cite your sources, and please please use edit summaries. Dicklyon (talk) 03:15, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Now that I've reverted a few again, I'll stop fighting you on this and let 49er fans decide what it should say and when. Seems premature to me, esp. without citing sources. Dicklyon (talk) 05:01, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CRYSTAL is determinative. It's not just 49er fans who are stakeholders here. It's policy. "The Niners will never play at Candlestick again" may be true, but only time will tell, and in the meantime an editor's prediction about the future is not a valid WP edit summary. This edit can well wait til the first exhibition game in late summer. When it is billed as "the '9-ers first game in their new home," will you dissent, it's not new, it's been their home since January, 2014? Hugh (talk) 19:28, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Richiekim, please engage in discussion if you disagree. Don't just keep doing stuff that we revert. Dicklyon (talk) 08:38, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Vikings Stadium.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Vikings Stadium.jpg.

Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 13:29, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Dave Bautista as Star-Lord poster.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The Luke Cage lead

Hey, thanks for your edit, but remember, a lead should generally summarize the article. Lots of superhero article leads are subpar, some of them don't even explain to readers who the character is beyond a first appearance. In the case of Luke Cage, Iron Fist is mentioned in the article 46 times (I did a control-F to check) and for decades the characters starred in comics together, I think a mention in the lead is warranted. You're right that not every relationship should be mentioned, but important ones like that, which are vital to a reader's understanding of the character, generally should be. Cheers :) -Fandraltastic (talk) 15:22, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Production of Avengers: Infinity War has been nominated for Did You Know

Spider-Man template

While I can't speak for the Wonder Woman template, simple appearances do not turn a Captain America film into a Spider-Man film. Speaking of other templates, this is why Suicide Squad was removed from the Batman template and why Captain America: Civil War isn't listed on the Iron Man template. This isn't a Spider-Man film and the character is only playing a small role in the film. DarkKnight2149 18:17, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Updating image files

Hi Rickiekim. I've noticed that you've uploaded an "updated" version for the file File:Tom Holland as Spider-Man.jpg. When uploading a version which is different is design, etc, from previous versions, it's generally considered best to simply upload the file as a new file to Wikipedia using a different filename and not as an updated version of the older one because it makes it easier to compare images, especially non-free images, and possibly determine which version is more appropriate for use in the article via the article's talk page. It also makes a difference because sometimes the source and copyright information is not the same for each image. Generally, only slightly altered versions (e.g., cropped or re-sized versions, etc.) should probably be uploaded as an "updated version". Any major change such as change in design, coloring, sponsor name, file format, etc. should probably be uploaded as a new file under a different name. Would you mind reuploading the image once again as a separate file? -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:28, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The file File:Michael B Jordan as Erik Killmonger in Black Panther.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No real need for a non-free screenshot in Erik Killmonger#Film. The image itself is not specifically the subject of any sourced crtical commentary within the article, so the context required by WP:NFCC#8 is not being provided. If there was sourced content about the actor's appearance in character, not just the fact that he played the role, in the relevant section, then perhaps NFCC#8 could be satisfied. Right now, however, non-free use seems primarilyy WP:DECORATIVE which is not really something that is allowed by the article. What "specific point in the article" is being illustrated? A non-free image is not needed for the reader to understand that Michael B, Jordon appeared in the movie as Killmonger

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:37, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

List of Marvel Comics characters: W

Hi. Please do not add uncited material to articles, as you did with this edit to List of Marvel Comics characters: W, as this violates Wikipedia's Verifiability policy. Since you've been editing since 2006, you should know by now that Wikipedia requires that the material in its articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly cited in the text in the form of an inline citation. If you want to restore that material, please do so only if it's accompanied by the required citations. Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 19:04, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't add details about Thor's new (albeit prosthetic) eye to the plot since the section is already too large, but why did you remove the detail from the cast section? Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:19, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

RonBot (talk) 17:23, 8 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Avengers Endgame logo.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- AlexTW 07:33, 8 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Richie, if you wanted to keep working on this in the draftspace and added some more real-world stuff like reception info, I would be supportive of a move to the mainspace at that point. I think you just need to justify the existence of the page separate from the comic one and the existing film articles (from which you have borrowed some of the info you have). - adamstom97 (talk) 03:24, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Luigi Bros.

Hello, Richiekim. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Luigi Bros.".

Disambiguation link notification for November 26

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Iron Man 3, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Vanity Fair (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:21, 26 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange.jpg.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 1 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin in Daredevil.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NFCC 3a and 8. Not substantially different from the depiction of the character in the infobox. There are four images of the figure in costume in slightly different illustration styles/in live action; one at most is needed.

Request to update WandaVision's budget number

Now that WandaVision is confirmed as a 9-episode series, can we move up the budget number from "$150 million" to "$225 million", since THR's article on Disney+'s content said each episode of an MCU show cost $25 million to make: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/features/bob-iger-bets-company-hollywood-s-future-streaming-1247663? Because 9 times 25 equals 225.

Do not add players to Category:Seattle Kraken players until they appear in a regular season or playoff game for the team. Replaceable fair use File:Climate Pledge Arena exterior.jpeg

Thanks for uploading File:Climate Pledge Arena exterior.jpeg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 18:17, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings score cover.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings score cover.jpg.

A tag has been placed on Cinecom (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

Just want to flag MOS:GEOCOMMA to explain why I indirectly reverted one of your edits. You edited Super Bowl LVIII to remove commas after state names with the comment that you were "removing unneeded commas." The comma after the state name is not "unneeded"—rather, it is required unless another form of punctuation trumps it. From a grammatical theory standpoint, the state name functions like an appositive—it tells you, for example, which Portland (the one in Maine or the one in Oregon). Unfortunately, the omission of that comma is one of the most frequently made mistakes on Wikipedia. 1995hoo (talk) 03:16, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
