Good work on the article. I made a few copy edits. My only issue is that you tend to overlink terms. Words should only be wikilinked once in the text of the article. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 03:14, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

NNDB as a source

Hi ChrisTofu11961 . I noticed that you recently used nndb.com as a source for biographical information in Trisha Yearwood. Please note that the general consensus as expressed at WP:RSP is that nndb.com does not meet the reliable sourcing criteria for the inclusion of personal information in such articles. I made a couple tweaks to your own changes. "One of the most X" tends to be POV language and should be avoided. Also, introductions don't need citations, and numbers under ten should be written out (e.g. "peaked at number five"). Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Lynn Anderson discography a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Lynn Anderson albums discography. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. "listas" parameter

Hi Chris – just to let you know for future reference, you don't need to add this parameter to every song or album article that you create. It's only used for songs/albums that begin with an article ("a", "an" or "the") because the default indexing on Wikipedia is by the first word, and generally in books and encyclopedias the indexes do not include the article when sorting alphabetically. At present none of the Lynn Anderson songs need this parameter (but there's no harm in leaving it now you've added it), but if for instance I go to the song articles of another artist you've been working on, Bill Anderson, I can go to "A Lot of Things Different" and see in the WikiProject Songs template on the talk page for that song that it has listas=Lot of Things Different. In this case, that parameter is necessary to force the indexing to begin with the word "lot" instead of "a", so that in Category:Bill Anderson (singer) songs, this song is listed under "L" instead of "A", as it should be. This "listas" parameter is also used in the WikiProject Biography template for artists whose name also begins with "the" (e.g. listas=Beatles, the). Richard3120 (talk) 18:14, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Richard3120: Hi Richard, thanks for clarifying! I simply thought the "listas" feature was used so the article's name comes up regardless of which letter it starts with. What if a BLP article has a last name that starts with "A"? For example, Bill Anderson. Would I need to use the "listas" feature?
Yes, it's a good idea to use listas=Anderson, Bill, as his article does. It's especially important when the name doesn't consist of two words – for example, actor Denzel Washington's son is John David Washington (two first names) and he has to be properly indexed as listas=Washington, John David. Likewise, it's common for rappers to go under an alias which doesn't include anything that resembles a first name/surname, such as Jeru the Damaja... here he has to be indexed as listas=Jeru the Damaja. Richard3120 (talk) 19:03, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Richard3120: Makes sense. I will keep this in mind in future edits. Thank you! ChrisTofu11961 (talk) 19:22, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! The rest of the article doesn't explicitly say when it was written, and I wasn't in the mood for going through the sources. :-) —Emufarmers(T/C) 05:16, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chris - great revision on the Lynn Anderson page. As Lynn's former agent of many years, I feel it's important to state the "FIRSTS" she achieved:

- first female country to appear on The Tonight Show (Carson hated country music) - first to headline/sellout world-famous MSG in '74 - first to win Amer. Music Awd in '74

Additionally, using Billboard as the only metric, she did chart 5 No.1 singles / 18 Top-10; however, Cashbox was just as important music trade publication from the '50s to the '90s and, quite often, a single would reach No.2 on BB, but No.1 on CB & vice-versa. It's certainly worthy of documenting 5 BB No.1 singles AND 8 CB No.1 singles (any single that reached No. 1 on both is, of course, only counted as ONE No.1).

I think it's important not to delete the fact from Joel Whitburn's book stating she (Lynn) is the No. 13 ranking music artist (all genres) of the '70s - in terms of success - and the HIGHEST ranking country artist not yet in the CMHF.

It's a well-documented fact that the Rose Garden album was the biggest selling by a country female for 27 years .. 1970-1997, when Shania Twain broke Lynn's long-standing record.

Lastly, RG was beyond the realm of just a hit. It was, indeed, a worldwide, mega-hit so I don't understand why you remove that insertion. It was the first album by a female country artist to go No.1 in many countries around the globe. Unheard of at the time for a female country artist.

As I stated, it's a great article you've created and I understand you stated it's a work in progress. I look forward to seeing the finished project so it's factual, while still honoring Miss Anderson's massive accomplishments as an artist. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikiesmonkey (talkcontribs) 17:34, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Mikiesmonkey: Thank you! However, in order to verify this information sources, references will be needed. If not, information cannot be verified by readers. Also, Cashbox is a not a recommended source to use on Wikipedia since it is out of date (we only use Billboard). I am hoping to clean up her main page as well. I am an editor dedicated to improving the articles by the women of country music. Lynn Anderson is my next project. Please know that I did revert an edit you made concerning the information you added to the "overview" section of her main article. Specific appearances on television shows and details such as that should be saved for the body of the article, not the overview. It is important to follow all guidelines necessary. If you need to see examples of the rules/guidelines, I can send them. Thanks. ChrisTofu11961 (talk) 17:59, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@ChrisTofu11961 - Actually, her MAIN page is what I was referencing. Guess I should have made that known. Regarding all the "firsts" I referenced can be verified on the internet by legit sources all day. Lynn Anderson, Madison Square Garden, American Music Award, The Tonight Show =key search words for sources. Additionally, when she passed, Billboard (certainly a trusted source) issued an article on her holding 27 year-long bragging rights to the biggest selling record by a female (Rose Garden). I believe the page, prior to the new version you supplied, had the reference from Joel Whitburn's book re. her being the #13 ranking artist of the '70s -across all genres, and the absolute highest ranking not yet in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

I'm currently working with the Lynn Anderson Estate at this writing, and Sony has just re-released some of her albums in digital format for the first time ever. Again, I trust you'll do due diligence re. the bullets I referenced above that can easily be sourced. I look forward to the final product and will share with her daughter, Lisa, when complete. Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikiesmonkey (talkcontribs) 18:31, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Mikiesmonkey: I will be adding her television appearances and awards over the upcoming week or two. Please allow me the time to do so. In addition, remember, this is an encyclopedia, not a fan site. Articles must be written from a neutral point of view: see Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. I will be following these guidelines and refraining from specific wording that may allude to "fan heavy" language. Thanks again! ChrisTofu11961 (talk) 19:13, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Gotcha! The Award section looks pretty tidy as is. I notice a lot of pages do nods & wins. Lynn's just has wins, honors, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikiesmonkey (talkcontribs) 19:20, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ChrisTofu11961 - Had a message re. conflict of interest re. my contributions to Lynn Anderson's page. Not really sure what he's referencing since Lynn Anderson is dead, not sure how it's considered a conflict of interest - as in promoting an artist. Secondly, I'm also a virtual LA encyclopedia and, while I fully understand the rule of no "fluff," etc., I think it's important to mention the FACTS which were either sourced OR can easily be sourced. NOTHING I've contributed has been unfactual, nor promo-fluff. Are we just selective or biased on whose page gets the facts in full - i.e. Crystal Gayle (whom I adore) article is laden with things one could easily consider promotional if you're using the same rules you're applying to LA's page. I see you've greatly contributed to Crystal's page and I don't deny anything you've contributed. However, things like "one of the most successful crossover artists of the '70s? True, but Lynn Anderson did it before Crystal so, in effect, she paved the way for CG. Second example on CG's page, (paraphrasing) she influenced/paved the way for Faith Hill, Shania Twain, etc. If Lynn paved the way for gals like Crystal, she certainly paved it for the subsequent ladies. Again, I think all you've posted on Crystal's page is factual; however, why isn't it factual when essentially the same is posted on LA's page? (per Orange Mike)

FEW quotes (verbatim) that can easily be googled/sourced, re LA (if you're unable to find, I'll provide the links):

From Reba McEntire: "She did so much for the females in country music. Always continuing to pave the road for those to follow."

From Pam Tillis: "One of the great country dames that blazed the trail for all of us."

From Robert Oermann (Famed CM historian with his own Wiki page): "She (Lynn Anderson) was the one who cracked the Tonight Show circuit, the variety stage and the Vegas stage."

From Wade Jessen (Billboard): "Rose Garden was as big a hit as anybody could have possibly have at that time, and she had it." (hence: "MEGA-HIT")

From Dolly Parton: "She was more of a city girl with a country feel and a country flavor, so she appealed to all of us real country people and she appealed to city folks." (hence: first mainstream female country superstar)

Again, I realize you're in the progress of creating an essentially new page from scratch, so I'm not saying any of this based on what I am or am not seeing at this point. I suppose it's the "conflict of interest" message from Orange Mike that prompted this response - as tho' having been Lynn's agent precludes me from the ability to be an objective participant. Facts are facts - whether you've a connection with the subject or not. I'm capable of adhering to Wikipedia's rules in terms of objectivity. Once again, I realize you're in process of creating the page. My main concern is continuity with the rules on the page of each "country star." Thanks. -- Mike

@Mikiesmonkey:, please discuss this with @OrangeMike: as he is seeing a reason to believe that you should not be editing Lynn's article anymore since you have a close connection with the subject. ChrisTofu11961 (talk) 17:09, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ChrisTofu11961 - Unless @OrangeMike: owns or is a CEO with Wikipedia, I'm not really all that concerned with what he "thinks." If he'd like to have a constructive dialogue, where we discuss consistency across the board, I'm all for it. I'm merely standing for continuity and fairness. Shouldn't be different rules for a subject a contributor may like better than another. If it's not implemented, I'll repeatedly point it out. As I stated, some of the main complaints about Lynn's original page are starkly visible on Crystal Gayle's. I'll check back in when you're finished with the article. As I said, if you're unable to find the references for the FACTS I've pointed out, then I'll be glad to assist in providing. Until then, I appreciate the hard work and research you're putting into Lynn's page. Thanks - Mike

If an article or redirect has an existing history about an unrelated topic, you shouldn't just take over the title to write about a new topic. This is called hijacking. A move should have been performed first. Thanks. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 23:26, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars: Hi, thanks for doing that. I did not realize that a redirect could also be considered hijacking. All the best. ChrisTofu11961 (talk) 02:21, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Chely Wright

Brad Paisley and Rodney Crowell only have tangential connections to Chely Wright, so they shouldn't be in the infobox or template. Those should be reserved only for artists who have a long-term connection or are clearly derived, not just one-time collaborators. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 18:07, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@TenPoundHammer: I disagree. They do have a long-term connection. Not only did he produce her record, but she has also collaborated with Crowell on two os his own studio albums, providing background vocals. She also has toured with and appeared in his 2008 music video "Sex an Gasoline." I think it is worth keeping him. ChrisTofu11961 (talk) 19:51, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@TenPoundHammer: I might also add that Crowell collaborated with Wright in providing harmony vocals on her 2016 record, I Am the Rain.. Also, see Tarpaper Sky for collaborations. I referenced it in her main article. I think its notable enough to keep Crowell on her template and infobox. ChrisTofu11961 (talk) 20:07, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@TenPoundHammer: Yeah, this makes sense to delete. I agree that it's not that notable. I wrote this like ten years ago before I understood what a notable article truly meant. ChrisTofu11961 (talk) 19:55, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Using small text for chart names on Kacey Musgraves discography

Hi. Please do not reintroduce small text for chart names on Kacey Musgraves discography. This was already removed by me with a Wikimedia policy cited. What you're describing, about the text being a little bit bigger for readers on mobile devices, is not an MOS:ACCESS problem. Using small text when the text size is already set at 90% is an MOS:ACCESS problem, because this would take the smaller text below 85% of the norm, which is against MOS:SMALL. Please stop reintroducing such small text due to the slight inconvenience of a larger column. Abbreviate the chart name if you feel it's such an inconvenience, but my edits were in line with MOS:ACCESS, which is a policy on all Wikimedia projects. Thank you. Ss112 00:33, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also, in case you were unaware, as it seems you are: the NZ Hot Singles Chart is not the main chart of New Zealand. The main chart of New Zealand is the NZ Top 40. The NZ Hot Singles Chart is a component chart that primarily tracks the "fastest moving tracks week-upon-week" by a number of metrics. I say this because you removed the "Hot" clarification below the NZ column in the singles and other charted songs sections. Without this distinction, readers would assume those are peaks for the main chart of New Zealand when they are not. As we have clarified with all other charts, like the US Country, US Folk and Canada Country and so on, the same should be done here. Ss112 00:57, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ss112: Okay, thanks for the clarification. Now I will know not to do that next time. However, please remember to keep a level of professionalism here. I can sense an underlying anger in your message that is rather unprofessional. This is a free encyclopedia in which anyone is welcomed to make edits. When you post a message to another user remember to maintain a level of respect. ChrisTofu11961 (talk) 02:46, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
