Congratulations

Congratulations! With 10,336 views, your Hideaway (U.S. Senate) hook is one of the most viewed hooks for the month of December. Accordingly, it has been included at DYKSTATS December. Even more impressive given that it appeared in a 12-hour queue and was not in the lead/photo slot. Keep up the good work! Cbl62 (talk) 20:33, 20 December 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up, Cbl62! To tell you the truth, I'd totally forgot about that one. Chetsford (talk) 07:27, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for closing the RfC at Talk:Chad_Wolf#RfC:_Describing_legal_status_in_lead. Can I ask why you selected option A1? I don't believe any participants in the RfC selected option A. AleatoryPonderings (???) (!!!) 02:55, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

Oh my goodness, that's embarrassing! It was a copy/paste error by me - I've fixed it in the close. Thanks for calling it out, AleatoryPonderings. Chetsford (talk) 07:55, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
No problem at all—thanks for the fix :) Cheers, AleatoryPonderings (???) (!!!) 16:53, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

@Chetsford Greetings I came to know that the page I have created had been deleted by you, I am not satisfied with the reason you gave because it had been clearly stated in Wikipedia that I shouldn’t write an article with exaggeration, so cut short everything then only I submitted.I kindly request you to review it once again. If it is not satisfied then leave a message in my talk page. Hi Grover no 1, thanks for your message. As requested, I have reviewed Aashid. I decline to undo the deletion as I believe it meets the WP:A7 criteria for speedy deletion. You are welcome to appeal this at WP:DRV. Chetsford (talk) 04:26, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
@Chetsford I have some other citations to prove that the subject in the article has some significance but it is listed that I shouldn’t write something that is promotional. What can I do should I rewrite it once again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grover no 1 (talkcontribs) 05:05, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
You may want to submit it to WP:AFC. Chetsford (talk) 05:29, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Mr. Touchdown, U.S.A.

about your admonishment of me on a talk page

You are wrong. I am not advocating a cause here as some "soapbox." I write and edit Wikipedia pages with one goal in mind: How best to convey a subject for a nine-year-old kid doing a homework assignment. Specifically, in this case, one thirty years from now. How best do you depict the utter futility of banging your head against a brick wall 60 or more times thinking that it will somehow crumble to dust? How do you explain this Wednesday's riot?

I know there's going to be a riot because my Twitter feed has the "best of Parlor" in it.

The current kerfuffle on the talk page reminds me of Fiddler on the Roof, when Tevya is talking to Havela about her marrying a Gentile. It goes: "on the one hand is this, on the other hand is that, on the first hand is this, on the other hand...there is NO OTHER HAND." The Wikipedia policy on WP: Neutral is on the whole sound. But there is neutral and there is neutral. young Earth creationism or Holocaust denial are not something that neutrality works very well on. This is like that. So I hope you understand where I'm coming from now. Happy New Year and God Bless.Arglebargle79 (talk) 14:34, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Perhaps you should consider contributing to pages you're somewhat less dispassionate about or in which you feel less personally invested? With no disrespect intended, your comments convey the sense that you're in complete apoplexy about this subject matter and, to be quite honest, I don't understand half of what you're writing. (Also, it's not necessary to reply to me both on the Talk page and here. One or the other is fine. I assure you, everyone is seeing all of your messages. If some of them aren't receiving replies that's probably intentional.) Chetsford (talk) 17:47, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Catherine Austin Fitts

Re your undo of my edit of https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Catherine_Austin_Fitts&oldid=998085937 Catherine Austin Fitts is trending on social media - "Full Interview, Planet Lockdown" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1-0XKYAZII&feature=emb_logo She espouses the conspiracy theory which she has written on her solari web page: https://home.solari.com/deep-state-tactics-101-the-covid-injection-fraud-its-not-a-vaccine/ Saying: that vaccines will contain: "brain-machine interface nanotechnology, digital identity tracking devices, and technology with an expiration date that can be managed and turned off remotely"referring to a report that "indicates that the Danish government and U.S. Navy had been paying a tech company in Denmark to make an injectible chip that would be compatible with one of the leading cryptocurrencies." I noticed her Wiki entry had no reference to these crazy theories. I therefore edited to add the above citing the Solari source. I am therefore surprised that you considered my edit as possible vandalism and using an unreliable source - Solari, despite Solari previously referenced on her Wiki entry Laura Engels (talk) 15:06, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Per WP:OR you can't independently analyze her claims to determine they're a conspiracy theory. For the record, I agree they are, but you need a RS describing her specific post as a conspiracy theory. "I noticed her Wiki entry had no reference to these crazy theories." We're not here to debunk crazy conspiracy theories. We're chroniclers, not reporters. Per WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS "You might think that it is a great place to set the record straight and right great wrongs, but that's not the case." Once WP:RS describe her claims as a conspiracy theory you should have no problem adding them to the article. Chetsford (talk) 17:38, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of USRC Surveyor

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article USRC Surveyor you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Djmaschek -- Djmaschek (talk) 04:21, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

Hey Chetsford! I'm not really allowed to comment in that thread, but I totally agree with your proposal. I can't even count the number times people have tried to use MB/FC at RS/N. Sometimes it's their only source of argument: [1], [2]. I always found it odd that users have tried to use a clearly unreliable source in order to "prove" the reliability or unreliability of other sources. If your proposal gets consensus, might I suggest that you write your header in bold letters and/or a sizeable font? Some editors have a habit of overlooking the warnings posted at the top of noticeboards. Thanks! Dr.Swag Lord, Ph.d (talk) 09:52, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Review question

Hello, I m very new to Wikipedia and just made an article on conductor William Garfield Walker. I included several articles from Newspapers and other sources including about a House resolution that passed calling him a "musical genius" however you rejected the article citing that he is not accomplished enough. Could you please explain? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Musiclover12345678 (talkcontribs) 21:31, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi Musiclover12345678 - just to clarify, it's not that he's not accomplished enough, it's that there wasn't a demonstration of sufficient WP:Notability. There are two ways a conductor would meet Notability, either through the WP:GNG or by meeting the criteria listed WP:MUSICBIO. In both cases, this needs to be demonstrated by sources actually in the article. Please let me know if you have any questions! Chetsford (talk) 22:46, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

Thank you! I have gone back and added a halfhour interview feature which was produced by and aired on PBS to his article and have also added another Newspaper source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Musiclover12345678 (talkcontribs) 09:40, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
