Patrick Woodroffe (born June 11, 1954 in Oxford) is an internationally recognised Lighting Designer working in the worlds of music, dance, fashion, art and architecture.

Education

Patrick Woodroffe was educated at The Knoll Preparatory School, Marlborough College and Copford Glebe School.

Career

Woodroffe began his career in lighting in the mid Seventies working primarily with Rock and Roll groups. These included, amongst others, Rod Stewart, Abba and Tina Turner.
In 1980 he moved to the United States and lit shows for many artists including Cher, Raquel Welch and Donna Summer in Las Vegas as well as touring productions for Earth, Wind and Fire and Robert Palmer.
Patrick returned to the UK in 1985 and started to explore different fields in lighting including live TV, opera, special events and more recently architectural installations.
Woodroffe lit a production at the Vienna State Opera of Gunod's Romeo and Juliet, directed by Jurgen Flimm, where lighting took the place of all the scenery. He also lit Trovatore at the Bregenz Festival, directed by Robert Carsen.
In music, Patrick has worked with The Rolling Stones since 1982 as their Lighting Designer and Show Director.
