William Yang (born c.1999) is an Australian swimmer.[1] He competed in the 2022 World Aquatics Championships at Budapest, Hungary.

Career

Yang won the 100 metre freestyle at the Australian Swimming Championships in Adelaide in May 2022 with a time of XX.YY. He therefore qualified for the Australian Swim Team at both the 2022 World Aquatics Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.[2]

At the 2022 World Championships Yang swam in the heats of the 100 metre freestyle and ranked 24th with a time of 48.87 and did not progress to the semi-finals.He swam for the Australian team in both the heats and final of the silver medal winning 4 × 100 metre freestyle relay. He swam the lead-off leg in the final with a time of 48.41.

Yang also swam in the heats of the 4 × 100 metre mixed freestyle relay swimming the 2nd leg with a split of 48.39. He was not selected to swim in the final of the relay but earned a gold medal for his contribution in the heats.
