Welcome to WikiProject Swami Vivekananda. Some Wikipedians have formed a project to expand and organise information better in articles related to Swami Vivekananda. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help but don't know what to do, inquire on our talk page.

History

The English language Wikipedia was started in 2001, and the main biographical article Swami Vivekananda was started on 23 March 2002. The article Ramakrishna was started on 6 January 2004. Gradually editors started writing other articles too, e.g. Sarada Devi was started on 13 August 2004, Sister Nivedita was started on 5 May 2005, Ramakrishna Mission was started on 8 April 2004 etc. And, now in 2024, we have more than 200 articles related to Swami Vivekananda (you may browse some of those articles here).

The year 2013 is celebrated as the 150th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. During this year many new articles have been written and existing articles expanded. On 24 September 2013, the article Swami Vivekananda became a good article. And right after this achievement, this WikiProject has been created.

Aims

The aims of this WikiProject are—

Create a world class encyclopaedic portal or an online information bank on Swami Vivekananda which anyone can use for any purpose (such as research work, personal study etc) and share with anyone and everyone under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License.

Unlike all or most of the WikiProjects, we do not have a "Members" list here, because— a) we have noticed a good number of WikiProject members lists are full of inactive members' names, b) we want to highlight the project, not any particular member.
