On Simple English Wikipedia, User:Exampelias has created a page titled as "4U iranian". 4UTV has been a long-term interest of this sockpuppeteer, and 4U iranian seems to be exact the same, as Exampelias has also created simple:4UTV. Exampelias has also created simple:Hashtag Show. We have the very same page, created by User:Mh6ti1376. "Mh6ti" is also a familiar name, see Mh6ti and Draft:Mh6ti (created by مهیار مهرنیا). On a side note, please note that the master is actually User:ArmanAfifeh, a long-term UPE, not مهیار مهرنیا. We believe that Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Vira ghandi is also associated with this. I've been working on this case for long, so in case there is any other explanation needed, please let me know. Ahmadtalk 09:36, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Globally locked now, but I think we still need to delete pages they have created under WP:G5. Ahmadtalk 15:48, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(Can I reply here?) RoySmith, I think proving that they are a sock of User:مهیار مهرنیا would be old enough as well. To put it in a nutshell, User:Sihper is a confirmed sock of ArmanAfifeh per CheckUser evidence on Persian Wikipedia. Sihper is currently globally locked, since it is proven that it is connected to مهیار مهرنیا (see fa:Special:PermaLink/27953708#More hoaxes and spam for more info that relates Sihper to مهیار مهرنیا). Sihper has also been blocked indefinitely here, per CheckUser evidence, so I think everything so far is proven by CU evidence. I can also provide more behavioral evidence if it's required. Also, if anyone is interested in merging SPI cases, I can provide a more detailed explanation about all their socks. I think it's not (easily) possible to tie Mh6ti1376 directly to ArmanAfifeh, as they have a rather large network of socks and they create different articles using different accounts. Yet still, they all have similarities.
I think Mh6ti1376 is a sockpuppet of مهیار مهرنیا because they both share the same pattern. As I said, "Mh6ti" is a long-term interest of مهیار مهرنیا (they have created the draft at the very first place), and Mh6ti1376's username is pretty much the same as "Mh6ti" (in case it's any of help, "Mehdi Kordi" aka "Mh6ti" has born on 21 March 1997, that is year 1376 in Solar Hijri calendar, so we might say that the username is consisted of two parts: Mh6ti1376). Also, they share the very same behavioral pattern on Persian Wikipedia in their messages, but since those are in Farsi, I'm afraid they can't be of help. The point is that I have not seen anyone else being that interested in Mh6ti and related subjects. Ahmadtalk 18:45, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Active on Wikidata at d:Q22980971, working on "Mh6ti" (see this case's archive for more info about this name). Active on Commons, uploading the cover of one of Mahdi Kord (aka Mh6ti)'s tracks. User has also left me a message at Meta; this message completely matches how previous socks used to talk, but I can't explain properly since it's in Persian. The user has already been blocked on Commons and Persian Wikipedia and I've already requested a global lock, but I think a G5 would be needed here. Thank you. User has already been blocked on Persian Wikipedia. I have also requested global lock, but we are still waiting for stewards to take action. Most of the evidence comes from Persian Wikipedia, and I can explain more privately via e-mail, because publishing it publicly might result in a change of behavior. Note that their userpage is copied from mine, which is, in my humble opinion, odd as a new user's first edits. Please let me know if the private evidence is needed. Thank you. Creating 4U-TV, 4U has always been an interest of this case. Niusha Modabber, and its redirect - Newsha Modabber - has already been created by Francako12 and Yasproject - two other socks. Ali Murshedi is apparently the manager of 4UTV, so it's directly related to this case. Previously, Ali Morshedi was created by the main account (مهیار مهرنیا; though the actual account is ArmanAfifeh). Ahmadtalk 19:39, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The contributions prove that the user isn't actually a newbie. I have cross-wiki evidence that shows this user is a sockpuppet of ArmanAfifeh/مهیار مهرنیا. I have already requested global lock, but I think G5 (and global block) is still needed. Due to the sensibility of the behavioral evidence, I think I should send it privately. If its needed, please let me know. I'm requesting CU because I think it's possible that we find more socks. Thanks. Ahmadtalk 00:50, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

22 April 2020

Suspected sockpuppets

I'm not sure if CheckUser can reveal anything (as this LTA uses fake useragents and different IP addresses), but I think it can be helpful.

This user has created an article about "Amin Fardin" on multiple projects (many of those projects, such as simple, fr and ar, are projects that مهیار مهرنیا, originally ArmanAfifeh, is interested in). On Wikidata, d:Q87882140 is the related item. 5.125.1.221 recently edited that Wikidata item heavily, and they have also been heavily involved in editing another Wikidata item, d:Q91267391, which is about "Amir Hossein Mahmoudi", an Iranian singer whose article has been created on many projects by this LTA (socks also tend to edit articles and items about Amir Hossein Mohammadi and change their information to "Amir Hossein Mahmoudi"). Therefore, I believe that this account is likely to be a sockpuppet of ArmanAfifeh/مهیار مهرنیا. Ahmadtalk 00:08, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Comment: I don't know about the CU evidence, but the behavioral pattern seems to match (one of fawiki users recently reported this account as a suspected sockpuppet of ArmanAfifeh). There is a sort of "dead giveaway" that, when combined with their usual behavioral pattern (a new account that keeps creating standard articles on different projects), almost certainly shows the account is a sockpuppet. To avoid WP:BEANS, I'd rather explain this privately in email, though fawiki CheckUsers are also familiar with it. Ahmadtalk 03:17, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Although Pooyan Mokhtari has not been created by ArmanAfifeh before, I think it's safe to say that this account is very likely to be a sockpuppet. Similar to ArmanAfifeh, シベ has created an article about Pooyan Mokhtari on three different projects (enwiki, simplewiki and fawiki). They have also shown an interest in Amir Hossein Mohammadi, a long-term interest of ArmanAfifeh. They used to create it under the name Amirhossein Mahmoudi (G5'd once on enwiki, several times on fawiki and simplewiki 1, 2, as well as other projects). Their behavior on fawiki, as well as the use of tofawiki shortly after creating the account (and using it for creating six articles there) is also similar to other ArmanAfifeh sockpuppets. As an example, w:fa:Special:Logs/ATIe shows that one of their locked sockpuppets, ATIe, created 99 articles on fawiki using the mentioned tool. Thank you. Created Draft:Peyman Keshavarzi. Even had the courtesy to link to the old AFD[4] (AFD Deletion review). In the review, someone said Endorse deletion - the article has been repeatedly created at Peyman Keshavarzi nazarloo, Peyman Keshavarzi Nazarloo, Peyman Keshavarzi and Peyman Keshavarz.. Similar IP range as the IP tied to ArmanAfifeh here earlier today on WT:Sockpuppet investigations. WP:QUACK. If confirmed, requesting the usual {{db-banned}} for that draft. Sidebar: Is there a filter that "silently" flags creations of his favorite articles or drafts thereof so these things can be dealt with immediately instead of waiting until someone notices? Had nobody noticed, and had the topic met WP:N and the article passed WP:AFC review, it might have been accepted. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 15:47, 30 October 2020 (UTC) davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 15:47, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Note: IP is part of a /20, which might be more blockable than a larger block. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 16:24, 30 October 2020 (UTC) Update on the other hand, the same(?) editor used 5.125.5.121 on September 6th to create Draft:Amir Sarkhosh (snooker) (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) so maybe not. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 16:42, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This account is attempting to create a BLP of Amir Sarkhosh, but that title is create-protected in both draft space and article space due to repeated creation by the sockpuppeteer User:ArmanAfifeh.

Need to check these IPs for socking as well. They were editing the Draft:Amirhossein Mahmoudi (violinist) recently submitted to AFC. Note the first sandbox submission comments from (Violiniswwt). Also note that (Violiniswwt) tried to change the name of the winner of the Menuhin Competition to Amirhossein Mahmoudi. [5] and the IP tried the name change for Singapore International Violin Competition [6] and the violinist draft page has a number of blatant inaccuracies concerning competition wins. Created Draft:Ali Ziya, previously G5'd as a creation by Mehdikordian, who was CU-confirmed to Afifeh on fawiki. I reported this a little while ago and then saw there was already a report, so I reverted mine. I'm just including my comment here in case it helps at all: Creation of page Arrest of Maedeh Hojabri which was deleted due to creation by known sockpuppet. Timeline of account creation indicates a possible connection. A brief review of this user's still-current contributions shows a large number of unexplained reverts of edits which appear to be non-problematic, which may be an attempt to build an edit count to establish legitimacy.  A S U K I T E   02:36, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Already globally locked, but since it took me a bit to figure out the original master, reporting here for the record

  1. connected to Special:CentralAuth/Javad2283 based on deleted contribs on simplewiki (simple:Peyman Keshavarz)
  2. Javad2283 is CU blocked here (and on simple) with no master identified, but on commons blocked as a sock of "مهیار مهرنیا"
  3. User:مهیار مهرنیا is tagged as a sock of ArmanAfifeh

There are probably some other ways to connect the accounts that don't involve deleted contribs on other wiki. I don't know if a block is needed, since the account is already locked, but tagging them as a sock would be helpful for when they next come back in terms of being able to figure out the master DannyS712 (talk) 00:52, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed. I blocked both of the accounts I found, after noticing Navab eb7 (talk · contribs) making a legal threat at ANI and another user suggesting he was editing logged out. On running a check, I found a match to User:Deejmin, who was already blocked by User:Oshwah per this sock case. Common interest in Peyman Keshavarzi Nazarloo and Amir Sarkosh, particularly on commons (commons:Special:Contributions/بولس245) but also on en-wiki (Special:Contributions/بولس245). @EdJohnston: Thank you for the check. Azerbaijan Premier League (2013—) is indeed listed in Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 23:30, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As the editor who opened this SPI, I concur with EdJohnston's recommendation of 19:03, 22 January 2021 (UTC) to close with no action.  Possilikely (a mix between possible and likely)  Possible The version string matches though it's not too distinctive. The IP range is consistent but wide. The Commons image was seemingly imported from the fa.wiki. In the caption, the user who imported it says it's a picture of him. I think the import to Commons was by a bot. So anyone who can read file history in the fa.wiki might be able to learn more. The page where the image was used is Draft:Peyman Keshavarzi. That player is now with Sabail FK which is in the Azerbaijani Premier League. (Might be a professional league, not easy to tell). So per WP:FOOTY it's possible that the player is notable. The draft article was created by User:ShadowBallX who is in good standing. EdJohnston (talk) 23:24, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I know I'm not suppose to comment here, however, wouldn't he pass NFOOTY since he played in Iran, which the Persian Gulf Pro League is considered professional? ShadowBallX (talk) 23:38, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I recommend that the complaint against User:بولس245 should be closed with no action. I changed my verdict above to 'possible'. The background suggests they aren't part of the ArmanAfifeh sock party. In the caption here the editor seems to have admitted they are the football player Peyman Keshavarzi Nazarloo. The copyright clearance for the latest image may still not be correct, but others can work on that. EdJohnston (talk) 19:03, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Above, I struck out that the editor said they are the actual player (They clarified it on my talk page). EdJohnston (talk) 19:43, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Has created the page Amir Hossein Mahmoudi (footballer) today. See also Amir Mahmoodi and Amir Mahmoodi (footballer) and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Amir Mahmoodi. For some reason, every time this page is created, a whole load of ArmanAfifeh socks come out of the woodwork so I expect the same to happen again. Mahmoodi is an amateur footballer playing at a ludicrously low level in Iran so the chances of another random Wikipedia editor creating an article on him are extremely low. @CaptainEek: can I suggest comparing this to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/ArmanAfifeh and the archives? I saw Mojtaba2361 on simplewiki and assumed they were a sock of ArmanAfifeh based on similarities with User:VsDFRT on simplewiki, but then I saw that they were blocked as part of this SPI instead. I listed ArmanAfifeh above because I needed to report someone via the twinkle interface to create a new report here, but they themselves are likely stale and one of the other socks in the archives should probably be used instead. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 04:20, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Amir Sarkhosh (snooker player) was created with no useful content by an IP editor. A week later, Ali davari32423 started significantly improving it, adding more than 21KB to the page in their first edit. They have also created an article about Amir Sarkhosh on fawiki, which was deleted. Their other creation, Draft:Akram Mohammadi Amini, was previously created by ZZafshinian, an ArmanAfifeh sock, and speedy deleted afterwards. Account sprang to action one day after last sock was blocked. Like previous socks, is rapidly translating articles from fawiki and trying his hands at speedy deletion tagging. Creating his own talk page with {{talk header}} and rapidly welcoming new users is not something I specifically recognize from ArmanAfifeh, but it is of course a general sign of being a sock. – Thjarkur (talk) 06:42, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

More re-creations of Draft:Amir Hossein Mahmoudi, who might be part of the squad but isn't listed in the first team so it's highly likely to be more of the same spam. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 19:03, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I was already suspicious of the account due to creating a couple of dubious footballer articles. It has now created Amirali Mahmoudi, which is basically just Amir Mahmoudi/Amir Mahmoodi all over again. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 14:31, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Similar behavior as previous socks, including rapid machine translations of articles from fawiki [11][12]; first edit and many subsequent edits to Iranian football articles; quick to request autopatrolled shortly after account creation [13] (compare to [14]); and referring to admins as "management" [15] (compare to [16]). Requesting CheckUser to confirm, and also to check for sleepers if that would be appropriate. (Unsure how to balance a report to justify CU with BEANS; any clerk or admin can remove any part of my statement as they see fit.) DanCherek (talk) 22:26, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not going to BEANS the details. DMacks (talk) 22:43, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This was frustrating to check because none of the recent socks are tagged, so I had to review the block log for every suspicious user on the resulting, very large, IP ranges, and it is likely that I missed something. I don't understand why reporters are holding their cards so close on this case: this is not a person doing it for the recognition, it's clearly a person editing for hire who does not care if they get caught. They don't change their behaviour to avoid detection, they just make a new alias and take more jobs. Keeping evidence to yourself just makes it harder to find their socks. I'm removing the "no tags" notice, and if you want checks to be run, provide evidence. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 16:58, 5 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hossein norouzi 306 locked as AA by Amanda. Tagged as suspected. Closing. On a sidenote, and without making any comment on the merit of tags vs no tags, I understand why people don't tag AA; he does engage in trolly behaviour, including interactions with himself. This is one example that immediately comes to mind. --Blablubbs|talk 13:02, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently, this case has been stale for a while now, but CeSoe's contributions seem to match ArmanAfifeh's behavior. For example, as with previous sockpuppets, Alireza Najafzadeh has been created by CeSoe on enwiki, azbwiki, and simplewiki. There is also sockpuppet activity on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alireza Najafzadeh (by an IP whose only global contributions are voting for "keep" for articles created by CeSoe on enwiki and fawiki). CeSoe has already been blocked indefinitely on fawiki for sockpuppetry. There are also some subtler pieces of evidence which I can share privately, if needed. Thank you. • Same ISPs, same (common) browser as past socks.  Blocked and tagged, Redirect arrow Global lock(s) requested. I see a couple other possibly-related accounts on their range, but nothing I feel comfortable blocking at this time. GeneralNotability (talk) 01:43, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

These two accounts created new drafts at Draft:Amir_Sarkhosh_(2) and Draft:Amir_Sarkhosh_(billiards_player) to bypass salting of more conventionally named targets. Borderline WP:DUCK block evasion. OhNoitsJamie Talk 18:55, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ohnoitsjamie Hi, I got a part of the article from the article in everibodywiki. Isn't that collection part of the wiki?--Liyan baboo (talk) 19:43, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And the reason for creating the draft was to see his competitions in 2022, when he won second in IBSF World Snooker Championships Liyan baboo (talk) 19:45, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, everkbodywiki is where folks go when there content is rejected from Wikipedia; it has very little moderation. That's immaterial here, however; the question that will be addressed at this venue is whether you are avoiding a block. In any case, I highly doubt that an amateur snooker player meets any notability criteria. OhNoitsJamie Talk 20:17, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I do not avoid any blocks and I do not know this user and IP.This person is not an amateur? If you search the internet, you will find that he is not an amateur. Amateur players can not become world champions. And attending the Olympics is not for amateurs Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games Liyan baboo (talk) 20:26, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I seem to be mistakenly involved in a problem that I'm not involved in, so the IP article, which is similar to mine, copied the exact text of the article from Everybodywiki, and part of the text of my article is taken from the same article, ie Everybodywiki The body wiki that I thought was part of the Wikipedia project and I thought was part of the wiki. If I make a mistake, delete my draft article so I can work on a healthy article from this person and wait. Liyan baboo (talk) 22:54, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Article user:Robert McClenon Transmitted by him. You are wrong. I made the article in my draft without a title. Take a look at this edit yourself I even sent a message to the person why he moved my article. Am I right? It was user:Robert McClenon who transferred the article to 2. And my messageUser_talk:Robert_McClenon#Sendbox_me to user:Robert McClenon why they transferred my article from my draft. I did not make the article in the title that I want to play socks. Peymn NR has created User:Peymn NR/sandbox on Amin Fardin. Based on the username and the draft subject, I'm guessing this is another sock from the same farm? -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:26, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

(1) Recreation of Ho3ein and Hamid Sefat, both of which were earlier created (a while ago now) by blocked sock IMani (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki). (2) Rapid initial editing to build the edit count (3) Edits to fawiki and wikidata. Behaviour consistent with prior socks. Data will be stale, a sleeper check may be helpful but I will leave that to a clerk. Local Variable (talk) 14:52, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If further behavioural evidence is required, the account is also participating in deletion discussions in the same manner, using external links to purportedly demonstrate notability. In the past socks have been used to influence discussions; it remains to be seen if any will this time. Local Variable (talk) 09:22, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I also opened this case before seeing this one by @Local Variable: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/BenYaamin

This is also another supportive evidence btw: [17] Tehonk (talk) 20:21, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

See the similarities between this and this, also comments by blocked sock CeSoe here, especially the usage of the word "inspection". Tehonk (talk) 21:33, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
