This minor comic book series seems to fail WP:GNG and related (WP:NBOOK, etc.). The few references in the article don't seem very reliable of meeting WP:SIGCOV and my BEFORE failed to locate anything helpful. He did get a TV series ( Sable (TV series)) which likewise seems to have very little coverage. The best I see is this. While this comic existed, it seems to have made too little impact to deserve a stand-alone article. Thoughts? Maybe a merge to the publisher, First Comics? It would be good to preserve some basic information and redirects rather than making this into a red link. Frankly, I'd be happy to see this rescued, but right now I am afraid this is mostly unreferenced fancruft/original research on an entity that does not appear to be notable. _{Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here} 07:44, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

• Keep. As stated in the AfD explanatory text above, the Jon Sable comic resulted in a show on network television in the 1980s, which is a pretty good indicator that a comic book made a mark on the world. But Wikipedia's book notability guidelines don't say a TV adaptation is automatic proof of notability, so I'll also share the following proof. First a quick search pulled up critical articles about the comic, including one in Critical Survey of Graphic Novels: Heroes & Superheroes stating that the comic was one of the first of the independent and dark superhero stories of the 1980s and "helped usher in the grim and gritty sensibility that came to define the genre." In addition, there are two reviews of the series in Publishers Weekly (see link 1 and link 2) along with the comic being written about and reviewed in places like The Comics Journal (see this link for an example) and Comics Buyer's Guide (unable to link to, but you can search for it in the Wikipedia Library). It also appears there was significant coverage of the comic in the comic-industry press of the 1980s and '90s, but unfortunately very little of that is online or easily accessible. Finally, Gene Simmons is a fan of the series -- Wikipedia definitely can't delete one of Gene's favorite comics. :-) Anyway, all of that definitely proves this series meets Wikipedia's book notability guidelines.
