Although the incident did receive national coverage at the time, most of it was redundant (WP:DIVERSE), and the aftermath fizzled without much fanfare, as the subject pled guilty and the officers involved were suspended (WP:LASTING). An organization threatened to post the names, addresses and telephone numbers of the law enforcement officers involved in the event, which sparked significant debate about the issue of the privacy of the officers.
