I do not understand the automatic rejection of this list of products. The response was immediate so there was no time for a real person to review. The format in which this was submitted matches already live content of competitors you may find in your backup software list. I have read your Wikipedia guideline articles but must need some additional help understanding what you find promotional about this product list. Thank you. You would be better off talking to the user @I dream of horses: as they are not a bot. TheMesquitobuzz 19:12, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I reverted it, and gave you the above message, since your addition to the article seemed to read more like an advertisement than a Wikipedia article.I dream of horses @ 00:15, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I still do not understand how this was rejected despite being formatted exactly how their major competitor, Acronis, lists their products. My friend works for UltraBac Software, I've used some of their products, and I thought I'd do them a favor by updating their page since it's incredibly outdated. Should I submit their products as a bulleted list with names & features rather than detailed descriptions? But then shouldn't Wikipedia force their competitor(s) to do the same? I was also hoping to write a new company description, history, and list of awards so readers will understand the company better...but I want to be sure I follow Wikipedia's guidelines so they don't get rejected as well. I thought by looking at other companies in their industry and reading Wikipedia's guidelines, it would be an easy process. I even had my husband, who isn't familiar with the company or products, read my submission to be sure it didn't read like an advertisement - he only made a couple of changes. Could you please offer more specific suggestions rather than just a blanket rejection? Thank you for your time.

You should have a look at "other stuff exists", which basically states that all because an article (or more than one article!) "gets away with it" (intentionally or not--we have a few thousand volunteers vs. a few million articles and a few dozen exceptions to the rule to boot), doesn't justify every other article looking the same way
"UltraBac Software has focused exclusively on delivering backup and disaster recovery software for over 30 years. The foundation of the company is to provide complete protection of business systems to ensure a customer's critical information is always available." reads like something someone closely affiliated with the company would say. The rest of the edit improves, but only slightly.
Since your friend works there, you have a bit of a conflict of interest. Keep reading, there's a bit of an advantage to that. Instead of asking your husband to review, you can the Wikipedian community to do the same by putting {{requested edit}} on the Ultrabac talk page. I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 00:17, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
