Devil Rays or Rays

Is it okay to still use the old name for the team or do we have to use the short name all the time? TBDevilRays2009 (talk) 10:50, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

Looking for help re: FSU uniforms

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Florida_State_Seminoles_football#Uniform_Combinations There is debate about whether to show every possible combination of FSU uniforms or just the ones that have been used. Basically this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Fsuunis.jpg versus this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:ACC-Uniform-combination-FSU.PNG User Kevin W claims that he is seeking "uniformity" with other college football pages that show every possibly combination, without regard for their actual use. I disagree. Why show combinations that have not and will not be used? I saw you are a contributor to the page and I am asking for more input. Thanks. AriGold (talk)

I'm curious what you mean by you wish it carried over into the regular season. If you mean the format that's easy enough to transpose into the game log. Plus it is possible to simply add the pre-season games into the game log if you really wanted. I put the pre-season template separate as that's how we do things at WP:Hockey, so I noticed no one had added the pre-season so I did. I've noticed that the NBA season pages are poorly maintained (i.e. the pre-season schedules haven't been finished for most teams (which is slightly my fault as I started them but never came back around to finish) etc. etc.) Shootmaster 44 (talk) 03:01, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Definitely. I'm excited about this season. Lost interested in the NBA after Shaq left Orlando for the most part (which coincided with the end of my basketball career really). I got back into the NBA with Orlando's big run last season. They are one team that plays a fast game and isn't full of thugs. The slow play coupled with the whole hip-hop culture is what turned me off the game. No offence if you're into that sort of thing though. At any rate, I'm excited to see what the Magic can do this year. I just hope I get to see enough of their games here in Canada. Shootmaster 44 (talk) 03:51, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
I don't see how picking up Vince Carter was a bad move. From all accounts in the NBA magazines I've been reading (like I say I hadn't really followed the NBA since about 1996), picking up VC is an upgrade over Hedo. They went from a good spot player and an almost all-star to picking up an 8 time all-star. Plus, what I remember about VC when he was in Toronto is that he was more than just a perimeter player. Either way, I'm excited to see how it goes. I just hope that Shaq and Lebron have a Shaq and Kobe like feud in Cleveland, otherwise I'm not sure the Magic would be able to bump off Cleveland. 71.17.132.113 (talk) 05:31, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
Oops forgot to log in on the last one there. Shootmaster 44 (talk) 05:32, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I saw that you created a new template for this NBA season, however I don't think it should be necessairy to have a different template for each year. Based on the edit summary you made, I think your concern was with expanding the first month by default? You can do this with the "show=yes" option. I've set this up on Template:2009–10 Toronto Raptors season game log if you want to take a look. Here is the relevant code I used is:

NBA game log section|Toronto Raptors|October|first=yes|show=yes|

Let me know if there was any other issues you had with the old template. Otherwise, I'll just make Template:NBA 2009–10 game log section a redirect to Template:NBA game log section.
