Hi, this message is to let you know about disambiguation links you've recently created. A link to a disambiguation page is almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. For more information, see the FAQ or drop a line at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi. I removed the information you added about Stu's birth year, as it was not supported by the source given (the specific day, November 26, was supported, so I left that in). Please refrain from adding information not supported by a source to articles that fall under WP:BLP (Biographies of Living Persons). Doing so is a violation of BLP. Thank you! Non-free rationale for File:Icedearth2011europeantourposter.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Icedearth2011europeantourposter.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:26, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Symphony-X-Iced-Earth-tour.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Symphony-X-Iced-Earth-tour.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 06:10, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate use of nonfree images in discography article

WP:NFC#UUI express provides that nonfree/copyrighted album cover images may not be used in discographies. In addition, whenever a nonfree image is used in an article, a separate NFCC rationale must be placed on the image file page for each article in which the article is used. Your revisions to Mercyful Fate discography violate both of these requirements. Please revise the article as quickly as possible to eliminate these violations -- ie, remove the images. Replaceable fair use File:IcedEarth2013.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:IcedEarth2013.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 13:06, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:IcedEarth2013.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:IcedEarth2013.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:KingDiamond-TheFamilyGhost.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:KingDiamond-TheFamilyGhost.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 14:16, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for File:TheThunderCats2011.jpg

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Icedearth2011europeantourposter.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Icedearth2011europeantourposter.jpg.

Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 20:13, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Linde Lindström, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jeff Walker. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Venus Doom - Doom Metal

Are you by any chance able to tell me what the reference says about the genre? dannymusiceditor Speak up! 12:59, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@DannyMusicEditor:Yeah sure! The part in question goes: "HIMin säveltäjä Valo on sukeltanut Venus Doomilla rohkeasti omiin musiikillisiin perusteisiinsa [...] Nyt puhutaan doom-metallista, raskaasta ja hidastempoisesta metallin lajista.", which translates to "On Venus Doom HIM's songwriter Valo has dived bravely into his own musical foundations [...] we're talking about doom metal, a heavy and slower tempo genre of metal". I'm not 100% sure if they are talking about Valo's influences on the album or the overall sound, it isn't stated clearly enough. However I'm not really all that comfortable with calling the album "doom metal" myself, so if you want to remove it until a better source is found, I'm all fine with that!--SilverBullitt (talk) 15:11, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

SilverBullitt, after nearly a year, there is finally a review of your Good Article nomination. The initial results have been posted, and as is typical with a GAN review, there is some work for you to do on the article.

Please respond as soon as possible to the review page linked above. Mike Christie is doing the review, and if this happens to be a difficult time of year for you to do all the necessary work on the article, I imagine he'll be happy to adjust the normal schedule, especially given how long you've been waiting for this to be taken on by a reviewer who actually works on doing the review! Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:20, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ville Juurikkala, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Paleface (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Metal Gear images

Hi. I noticed you added two nonfree images to Solid Snake and Raiden. While I get why Raiden's MGS2 persona should be used in infobox since it's his introduction, shouldn't Snake's Solid 1 or Twin Snake look be used instead? It was how he was introduced to most English regions. Then again, we can't keep so many nonfree images in an encyclopedia unless its content is discussed in the article. The infobox image should serve as the most common despiction of the character so that's why I found Sons of Liberty's Snake a strange decision. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 17:27, 20 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! You're absolutely right, but the problem is that the original PS1 character model isn't really an accurate depiction, because of the graphical limitations of the time, and the Twin Snakes version I'm a bit iffy on because it's not the original, but a remake made after Sons of Liberty. Honestly, I would go with this version from Super Smash Bros., because it's the most commonly used image of Snake out there.--SilverBullitt (talk) 19:00, 20 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Just realized this. I guess we better decide on something considering nonfree images tend to be discouraged unless they are relevant to the article (kinda like how Raiden's cyborg form is described in the article).Tintor2 (talk) 18:29, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie).jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie).jpg.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Notice

The article Dystopia World Tour has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Only passing coverage in secondary sources. Not a notable tour.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (season 2) Reception

Information icon Hello, I'm Alex 21. I noticed that you made one or more edits to an article, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (season 2), concerning the updates of review statistics, box office numbers, sports statistics, or some other frequently updated data with a fixed web address, but you did not update the |access-date= parameter in the citation template. The |access-date= parameter is the full date when the content pointed to by the URL was last verified to be working and supporting the text being cited in the article. This means that the parameter needs to be updated whenever the content is updated. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. A Barnstar for You!

The Barnstar of Diligence
Thank you for working so diligently and carefully on English rock band Whitesnake and singer-songwriter David Coverdale as well as their albums. Your edits, reverts, explanations and discussions have greatly elevated the writing quality and format of the article. All the best. Miki Filigranski (talk) 14:32, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Whitesnake album 1987

Hi, considering your quality of edits and amount of good article promotions, would you help doing it too in near future for Whitesnake (album)? Currently it is B class thanks to me and it is mostly edited by me with good sourcing (am not only sure for usage of WP:Discogs but it was needed for confirmation of different release editions). Miki Filigranski (talk) 16:34, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, of course! I'll have to go over all my sources (old music magazines, interviews, album liner notes, books), so it might take a bit of time, but I'll definetly help get it to Good article status at least!--SilverBullitt (talk) 21:42, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, sounds great! Take your time, best.--Miki Filigranski (talk) 01:06, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
