Please re-add the article I was adding on to about Brian Schroth. He is a young and inspirational businessman in the USA who has received a great deal of coverage lately and has been announced to be appearing on a variety of upcoming shows and events regarding his contributions to society. I was adding on more details and citations. Please restore. Cheers! Jhorowitzsta (talk) 11:42, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

(edit conflict) If you can convince me with better references (i.e. not local level press or college/uni papers) that there is coverage of this venture, and that it is actually not just a couple of students having a bright idea, I'll userfy it for you to improve it. See WP:CORP (which applies to charities and non-profits as much as it does to multi-nationals) and WP:RS about reliable independent sources. Forget Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and all that lot. No blogs or forums. No 'interviews' that are basically info sent in by PR and attributed to the CEO. Show evidence that the giveaway is operating, and with some idea of scope. (That is, not like the team boasting that they had a 100% record this season - after one game...) As it stood, the article showed good intentions. It's notability that matters here. A fraudster may have an article (but not want it), while a priest who's run an inner city parish for 60 years might not if no-one outside his congregation has heard of him. Sorry, but upcoming shows are no good - WP:CRYSTAL. Please bear in mind that Wikipedia is not a ladder to the stars - it's an encyclopaedia and records not the up and coming, but the arrived (and past it...). Peridon (talk) 12:00, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for quick reply. Well, first of all, I have no affiliation with him or his company. I heard about him on a radio station on the opposite side of the country. I don't believe that I can show evidence for that though! On http://www.givbag.com/missioncomplete there are pictures from an event dated November 26th. You can see a school being assisted. On the same page/site, you can read about a past giveaway to students in Haiti. I heard over the radio that he is planning to do a giveaway in the New York area as well, so it is not really a localized situation. The articles that I pulled were to support the facts that I was stating in the article. I am new here, so I was making sure to cite as much as possible! I do thank you for your time and hope that I can continue to add cool stuff about mr. schroth and in the future other public figures.

Stuff on their own site doesn't count for notability, either. Forgot to mention that one. Hope to see you around - don't be afraid to ask questions. Someone will answer if I don't get to it first... Peridon (talk) 13:42, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Saint Michael's

hi! i am writing my first article "Saint Michael's School of Padada (SMSPians)" but its been always deleted...I'm about to add more info soon as i get the facts and details of that school but i'm discourage...Infact, honestly i'm not even a graduate of that school but i'm challenge to do so.Can i ask a favor from whoever of you that could at least,KINDLY, create that article for me so that my only concern is to edit soon when i get the details...Pleasssssse help me with my good intentions....Thanks Peridon — Preceding unsigned comment added by Browneyespercy (talkcontribs) 17:05, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) WP:FIRSTARTICLE is a good place to start ... not all topics are notable for inclusion in an encyclopedia (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 17:07, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
The trouble is, judging by the one I deleted, that it sounds like an advert. You must forget any enthusiasm when writing here. See WP:NPOV about neutral point of view. Get references together before you start. Look at WP:RS to see what are (and aren't) considered reliable independent sources. Remember that this is an encyclopaedia, and not a directory. Over at LinkedIn or AboutUs, you don't have to worry about references or being neutral. They are for promoting things. We aren't. When you get round to your next go, put it at User:Browneyespercy/DRAFT (just click that to start the new page), which should give you a bit more time - so long as you aren't really getting it badly wrong - and when you think it's ready, ask someone for advice. Most admins (like me and Bwilkins) or regular editors are willing to give an opinion and tell you what's wrong. If it is in mainspace, it's fully open to the patrollers. Calling it DRAFT in your space tells them to back off a bit. Just don't copy text or images from anywhere else. Peridon (talk) 17:46, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
And too, WP:PRIMER is a good place to get a heads-up on expectations. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 17:33, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

RFA thanks

Thank you for your support and comment at my recent successful RFA. I do not feel adminship is authority, but is rather a responsibility and trust accompanied by a few extra buttons. Being now the new fellow in the fraternity of administrators, I will do my best to live up to the confidence shown in me by others, will move slowly and carefully when using the mop, will seek input from others before any action of which I might be unsure, and will try not to break anything beyond repair. Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 17:32, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

Brian Schroth

Hello, Why did you remove the Brian Schroth wiki page? I am doing a report on him and his company and would like the information, unless it was a fake page. Please help restore it! I can add on research that I have acquired. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.211.210.220 (talk) 19:42, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

Please see "Deleted Page" above. You can probably get info from the poster there. And possibly help them too. Thanks. Peridon (talk) 20:00, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

page removed

Can you please restore the page. I googled Brian Schroth and it said there was information on him here but the page is deleted please help! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.254.85.252 (talk) 23:48, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

Already answered immediately above. Peridon (talk) 17:58, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi you blocked this user. But after the block, they have added promotional stuff on their talk page. I added a speedy tag for the same, but the warning came to you as you were the first one to contribute. But I think their ability to edit their own talk needs to be revoked as well.  Abhishek  Talk 17:48, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

I agree. Done. Any IP re-creation, and I'll protect it. Peridon (talk) 17:57, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Roscoe Dash deletion

I'm clearly not an administrator anymore (if not I would have overdone the deletion myself) but this isn't close to a speedy candidate. He had two songs in the top 15 in the biggest Billboard charts this year. The article must have been vandalized before it was deleted? Can you restore. Thanks Secret account 06:51, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, add my name in here... this isn't anywhere near an A7. If anything, I'd suggest AFDing it if you feel the notability is questionable. m.o.p 07:00, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
Oh, forgot to mention - I've restored the article (WP:BOLD and all that). Cheers, m.o.p 07:05, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Brian Schroth wiki

Hello I noticed that the wiki for Brian Schroth is deleted and I needed some info on him. Can I add more info to it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.254.83.60 (talk) 20:07, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

There's nobody on the Planet who really needs info on Brian Schroth (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 20:21, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
It's not a wiki, anyway. Wikipedia is, and Wiktionary and so on. That was a page. Can you please tell your friends to read further up this page, please, after you've done that yourself. Thanks. Peridon (talk) 21:11, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Ahoy! I just created this page James Postlethwaite and was met with this message: A page with this title has previously been deleted. If you are creating a new page with different content, please continue. If you are recreating a page similar to the previously deleted page, or are unsure, please first contact the deleting administrator using the information provided below. 17:12, 16 July 2011 Peridon (talk | contribs) deleted "Talk:James Postlethwaite" ‎ (G8: Page dependent on a deleted or nonexistent page)

Nothing to worry about. It was about a 16 year old amateur local comedian. (Can't remember why I deleted it.....) Peridon (talk) 11:18, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
In the last paragraph, is Welch really Welch (surname) or Welsh (nationality)? Peridon (talk) 11:24, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Social Empires

Hello, I am curious as to why you deleted that page. I worked really hard on that, I was trying to help get them more known and the page got deleted. I did not realize I was doing something wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tacos50000 (talkcontribs) 20:42, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

OK. One, I think it's probably too soon - it's still in beta. What it's too soon for is two - anything to indicate that it's notable. See WP:GNG about notability - there may be a specific policy for games and/or websites. WP:RS will tell you about the sort of references you will need to back up any claims of notability. I just ditched three unused Windows 98 disks that had SIM things on them - no idea where they came from, I don't play games - and the description of this thing sounded very like that sort of period of game. Things that sounded marvellous compared with Plebs and Pong. I'm just going on what was in the article, mind you. You need to work out why this is really notable compared with what else is around (not comparing with Plebs or my disks), and prove it with refs. Then get in touch again and tell me (briefly) and I'll think about userfying it for you. (That's putting it into your userspace for work.) Without something solid to build on, it would be a waste of time. Peridon (talk) 20:57, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

It is not that old, it's fairly new. it is hard to find notable and reliable sources because they are not well known, so there really are not any. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tacos50000 (talkcontribs) 16:42, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

That's my point - Wikipedia isn't really for the up and coming. More for the arrived and the past it. Come back when you can find them. We'll probably still be here... Peridon (talk) 17:16, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Arlonoson Ricol

Arlonoson was a fictional character. TheShane39569TheShane39569 (talk) 20:20, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Fair enough - but fictional characters should be identified along with their origins. From the total lack of Google hits, I would assume this is a character of yours. Perhaps too soon for an article? Peridon (talk) 20:49, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

New Danish cuisine

Hello Peridon. I see you speedy deleted New Danish cuisine under criteria G11 "Unambiguous advertising or promotion. Pages that are exclusively promotional, and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to become encyclopedic". Having had a look to the sandbox version User:Ipigott/Sandbox2, I think this might have been excessive, and maybe a regular AfD would have been more appropriate. I think the article can be improved, and if you look to the contributions of the editor you might find that he has demonstrated ability to write encyclopaedic content and is able to improve the article to meet WP:NPOV. Please have a second look to this decision and consider restoring the article giving the editor the chance to improve it. --Elekhh (talk) 23:15, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

I certainly agree that there were passages in the article that might be misinterpreted as advertising. I can assure you that if so, this was purely accidental and unintentional. I have reworked the text in my sandbox at User:Ipigott/Sandbox2. I hope the article can now be reinstated as a regular AfD, enabling me to substitute the new version. - Ipigott (talk) 10:43, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
In the past few hours, with strong support from Filing Flunky, the draft in my sandbox has been further revised. It looks to me as if it could now be reintroduced as a new article without the AfD tag. My problem is I don't know how to go about this. Can you help? - Ipigott (talk) 14:40, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
The wording is vastly improved. One concern remains - the article is a little tied to one particular restaurant. Would it be possible to introduce a bit more variety, or is this 'movement' confined to the one? (I was interested in the use of ramsons. Being a lover of garlic, I've been thinking of introducing it to my garden for the smell. I wasn't aware that it is edible - for me, most of the onion family is inedible save garlic.) Peridon (talk) 19:04, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
I'll certainly include a few more restaurants although Noma has of course been a guiding light. I had in fact deleted references to a few of them as I thought that might have been one of the advertising concerns. As for ransoms, they are certainly edible and have what some people consider to be a very pleasant smell which add to the attractiveness of the dish. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to look through the article again. - Ipigott (talk) 08:13, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Mark Kopytman

You said the text was CC licensed - however, the page I flagged it as being a copyvio from (http://www.bmop.org/explore-bmop/musicians/mark-kopytman) makes no mention of that - in fact, it specifically states ©2010 BOSTON MODERN ORCHESTRA PROJECT. FYI. MikeWazowski (talk) 19:11, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Have a look at the bottom of the Mark K own page, which is probably where it comes from. I'll drop a note to Moonriddengirl who knows more about these things. Peridon (talk) 20:05, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Bonzai Pipeline

Can I redo Bonzai Pipeline, since it says that I have to contact you before I do? But when I read the article after I finished it, to me it didn't seem promoted in any way.--Jpp858 (talk) 18:30, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Does it? Must look... You're welcome to try again, but I don't advise it being exactly the same. Read WP:NPOV about neutral point of view. (One tip is that anything with 'you' or 'we' is liable to be tagged for spam on sight (unless it's in a reasonable and relevant quote). At least you won't have 'solutions' in this one...) Also read WP:RS about reliable independent sources. Press releases are out, so far as notability is concerned. So are 'articles' like the LA Times one you cited. OK, usually reliable and independent. This was a press release in disguise. Facebook etc? No. Not one of them counts as reliable. (Nor does Wikipedia, because it's editable. The difference is that we patrol things for accuracy and style, and they don't. You can put what you like on MySpace, YouTube, LinkedIn etc. Unless it's blatantly inflammatory, pornographic or so on, they won't worry.) Get your refs together first. Not easy as it's not finished yet. Remember that we record the arrived (and past it), not the up and coming. Peridon (talk)
Out of curiosity, why 'Bonzai'? The little trees (bonsai) seem hardly relevant, and the Japanese shout (somewhat equivalent to 'Geronimo!') was 'Banzai!'. Peridon (talk) 20:23, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

deleted page

Hi you deleted my page on OK. i don't really know why, i'm not trying to promote the company, i am just doing an article for uni and making changes along the way on the article and was only partly finished. It is my fault i should of made it all in sandbox then made it into a Wikipedia page. also could you explain the rule that i broke because the description confuses me.Oshunt (talk) 18:34, 28 December 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oshunt (talkcontribs) 18:23, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

OK. First read WP:CORP. This is about notability for businesses. It's not just size - I remember a big profitable company with loads of employees getting deleted for non-notability. (They supplied chain stores with own brand products. Outside the Revenue Dept and the chain store buyers and their own workers, no-one had heard of them.) Then look at WP:RS about the referencing you need. The NICEEC one was OKish. We want more than a profile, however. Apart from those, you need to look at WP:NPOV which is about the neutral style required (it really looked promotional...). And I would suggest WP:COPYVIO too, as you pasted in part of the profile. We do try to assist people using Wikipedia as part of their school/uni work, but we do still require compliance with our policies. Get the stuff need together first (if you can - not every business makes it, and they aren't the only female electricians around). Then you can create it at User:Oshunt/Chick Draft (just click that to get the page). After that, ask an admin or regular for advice. A good place to look too is WP:PRIMER - not a policy, but a very good introduction to Wikipedia. Good luck. Don't be afraid to ask about things. You can use {{helpme}} on a talk page (at the bottom - not like you did here...) and ask a question. Peridon (talk) 19:18, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Deletion of TicketPros

I am deeply offended by the tone of Cindy's messages and I believe an apology is in order. I never debated or disputed the policy, merely questioned why other similar pages are allowed. If she is really sincere about assisting she should have the decency to say "sorry" and check her tone in future. I was not the first person to call her a shark on her talk page...

Deleting the page is fine and pointing to policies is fine, but insulting the author is not! Phrases like "with all due respect" does not belong on messages intended to assist authors - it is just plain rude! Mvnrsa (talk) 21:05, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

I use 'with all due respect', and find it quite OK for people to use it to me. I'm sorry that you find it offensive - it may be a regional thing, of course. Things offensive in the US aren't always in the UK, and vice versa, and things not offensive in either may be in SA or Oz. To me, it is an indication of intention not to offend someone who is getting worked up. It indicates that while the other person's point of view is understood, it may not be the point of view that is regarded as 'correct'. Cindy did refrain from referring you to WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS, which along with WP:DUCK is one of our more unusual directions to a policy. The crap version is usually intended to insult, or at least point out that someone is being quite egregious. (Actually, I don't think she would use that one anyway. I might...) I do wish sometimes that more people were aware of the stuff that gets posted here and requires deletion. Boundaries are hard to draw, but if there's any chance of recovery, we do try to help (as Cindy did). Alex has userfied the article - it's now up to you to sort it out. Do ask for advice - choose someone with quite a few recent contributions and no battles going on, for safety. If you get a bad response, ask someone else. Not all of us have good days every day.
