Infobox video game syntax

Hey, the field for infobox video game syntax is "programmer", not "programming". I fixed the ones you recently did as they appeared in the maintenance category. -- ferret (talk) 22:44, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. Thanks. Namcokid47 (talk) 22:46, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

City Connection

Hi, I'm wondering if you've ever watched a Let's Play of the game or even played it yourself. Because I have played the game and I can say that Highway Star in itself is not featured in the game, instead the London Stage's music starts off the the opening riffs of Highway Star and then segues off into Tchaikovsky's famous concrto. In fact, all the music in the game are variations of Tchaikovsky's concerto. You can easily compare this, there is a sample of Tchaikovsky's concerto on the wiki page linked from said article itself. As for the tune in question, you can listen to it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wjaur49yziA&feature=youtu.be&t=1029 . Thanks,

You will need to show me a reliable source to confirm this information — YouTube cannot be used as a source, per this discussion. Give me a link to a reliable source that confirms that info, and I'll add it back in. Thanks. Namcokid47 (talk) 15:34, 18 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you’d have googled you would have found other more reliable sources. For example, Giant Bomb: https://www.giantbomb.com/city-connection/3030-13232/ RAM (talk) 08:01, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please review Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Sources — Giant Bomb wiki pages are not reliable sources as they are user-generated content. Namcokid47 (talk) 16:31, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Giant Bomb is NOT a wiki, it is a competitor to Destructoid. But then again, I suppose you are too daft to validate the information on your own to see that Destructoid has posted false information. Even playing the game on an emulator or could've easily debunked Destructoid's lies. But if one article from a publication that is not trustworthy holds more weight than easily verifiable common knowledge, then there is no hope for Wikipedia, it's filled with lies, RAM (talk) 21:08, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You apparently haven't been able to find a reliable source to confirm that information, instead resulting to petty name calling and saying Wikipedia is now an unreliable site because of my doing (ironic really, considering you still edit here). If you find a reliable source that validates the information, fantastic, add it into the article. Because at the moment you are simply wasting my time. Pac-Man World publisher

This website displays Sony as the publisher: http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/det/9364/Pac-Man-World/

While this site displays Namco as the publisher (Although the back cover says "Published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. A Namco Product.") https://psxdatacenter.com/games/P/P/SCES-00934.html

I'd classify SCEE as the publisher in Europe as Third-Party titles on the PlayStation use an SLES number, while first-party published games (Sony published titles) use SCES numbers.

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Seeking a second opinion

Hi! I have noticed you have nominated some video game articles for GA reassessments in the past (all of which I agree with actually), so decided to come here. I came upon Ancient Trader just now. After posting Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Video_games/Sources#Indie_Game_Reviewer because of the reliability doubts, there is also another huge problem, development section. It seems it's reliant on one source from XboxHornet, which doesn't seem reliable too. Another problem is that even the archived versions of it don't have the article, so it's all unverified at this point, which would cause a removal per WP:V. And without a development section, a GA is unlikely. Any opinions? Regards, Jovanmilic97 (talk) 21:39, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

XboxHornet itself is by no means a reliable source, but the interview can still be used since the information is coming straight from the development team. Even with that in mind however, and like what you said, the archived provided by the source is basically dead and can't verify the information, so it pretty much makes the development section alone fail WP:V, which in turn makes the article itself fail the GA criteria. I'd say you should go forth with a GAN for this. Namcokid47 (Contribs) 22:36, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
