Well done so you made the call

Bully for you thank you, you made the call on Bared. I have to make hundreds and hundreds of mini decisions like that as I trog through the infamous Neelix list and I am the only one doing it, actually I would have listed it at RfD rather than boldly retargeting it but that is fine by me. If we have any chance of getting through them we have to use our initiative and sometimes that means we make the wrong call. I think on this one actually you made the right call although you have not rcatted it as {{R from verb}} as I would have done. Now can you please leave me alone to get on with them. Wiki Loves Pride 2016

You are invited to participate in the third annual Wiki Loves Pride campaign, which runs through the month of June. The purpose of the campaign is to create and improve content related to LGBT culture and history. How can you help?

  1. Create or improve LGBT-related Wikipedia pages and showcase the results of your work here
  2. Document local LGBT culture and history by taking pictures at pride events and uploading your images to Wikimedia Commons
  3. Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

Looking for topics? The Tasks page, which you are welcome to update, offers some ideas and wanted articles.

This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. The group's mission is to develop LGBT-related content across all Wikimedia projects, in all languages. Visit the affiliate's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome! If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's talk page.

Thanks, and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:14, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Heitkamp Gun Control Section

Thank you for editing the Heitkamp gun control section, but since the portion you removed is well documented fact, there is no NPOV problem. So I reverted to the correct record. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MichelMT (talkcontribs) 19:52, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A block might be in order

Thank you for helping contain persistent vandalism to Heidi Heitkamp. The page has been continuously vandalised a grand total of 5 times today, through 2 IPs and one registered user. It might be time to protect the page and block this vandal. Best, FoCuS contribs; talk to me! 22:53, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

MichelMT's edits are not vandalism and he did post on the article talk page. You can respond there. Jonathunder (talk) 23:56, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Have you gone through the text? It is clearly non-neutral and synth, per your own revert earlier, not to mention coatrack. FoCuS contribs; talk to me! 01:15, 14 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's all those things, but it's not vandalism. A vandal is trying to make Wikipedia worse. This is not that. The difference is important. Jonathunder (talk) 02:23, 14 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

sanctions

Regarding the notification you left on my talk page, you invited me to contact you if I have questions, and I do. In your message, sanctions are described as being imposed for "edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to" and 3 criteria:

  1. the purpose of Wikipedia
  2. our standards of behavior
  3. relevant policies

Could you clarify further which of these you are warning me about? Would it be possible for you to use Special:Diff to tell me what edits you are upset about? Your reply at Talk:People_v._Turner#Alcohol_brand_names levied accusations of OR/SYNTH but I do not understand the merits of those accusations in relation to my edits. I have included no OR here, I only include statements I find in reliable sources. I also do not include synthesis. I understand these concepts and how they are not a good basis for introducing statements. Ranze (talk) 18:50, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The notice is a required template to let editors know about the possibility of discretionary sanctions being applied. It does not imply anything more than it says. However, I would strongly encourage you to read the entire WP:OR policy page before editing further on BLP articles and talk pages. Jonathunder (talk) 18:56, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Revdel request

Hi there. Thanks for blocking Alton Sterling for that nasty vandalism. Can you do me a favor and revdel these edits? [1] and [2]? I don't want them visible even though they were generated to report that editor. Thanks. —Torchiest talkedits 17:52, 25 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

I had an edit conflict trying to leave a warning on the talk page of Desouzavalor--I assumed when I saw your warning we were responding to the same edits, but it turns out Desouzavalor has been busy in the past few minutes.

See theis diff: [3] and these from an IP account minutes earlier, making the same changes: [4] and [5].

I left a milder warning on the IP account, which was deleted, as was your warning on the registered account. Thanks for any help you can provide. Cheers! Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 07:28, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Update--The registered account is already blocked, but apparently not the IP account. Grand'mere Eugene (talk)

Lodge Zare Zapadu and NRHP infoboxes etc

Lodge Zare Zapadu No. 44

Hi, thanks for contributing the photo and starting the article on Lodge Zare Zapadu No. 44. I happened to notice it because some new link brought me to the Zapadni Ceska Bratrska Jednota article. It is 100% fine to create the infobox in the article as you did (perhaps by editing an infobox copy-pasted from another article?), but I wonder if you know about the NRHP infobox generator available at http://elkman.net/nrhp/infobox.php? It can make it easier to get started; it includes some categories and stuff that add to what you put in already. Probably you know about it and that it is covered at wp:NRHPhelp. Anyhow, I added your pic to the ZCBJ article and also I am adding the NRHP nomination document reference to your article. I added a bit to its content too. Keep up the good work! cheers, --doncram 21:22, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! --DYKReviewBot (report bugs) 02:37, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jonathunder, it's been over two weeks since this was posted, and you still have not provided a QPQ review. Please do so soon. Thank you very much. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:01, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Jonathunder, this is you final talk page notification that a QPQ review is required for this nomination. If you have not posted to the nomination page within seven days, I will, with regret, mark the nomination as unsuccessful. Please don't make that necessary. Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:43, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@BlueMoonset: I completed this review. Jonathunder (talk) 16:53, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jonathunder, you need to post that fact to the nomination page. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 22:28, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:MashaHamiltonHeadshot.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:MashaHamiltonHeadshot.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 20:23, 9 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Terrace Theatre (Minnesota)

Hi Jonathunder, as I've said, I'm a new user and trying to learn my way around. Just hoping to do my best to represent the Terrace Theatre accurately. I hope to do more edits but I seem to be locked out at the moment. I can't tell if my most recent edits went through or not. I just wrote to Fuhggetaboutit and said I seem to be locked out but I will check back in later. Thank you. KIRTIS (talk) 17:32, 17 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection

Hello, Jonathunder. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:49, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins

Hello,

Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers

Hi Jonathunder.

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
