I'm deleting that new article. Remember, article titles should be no longer than needed to describe the subject, and I doubt that each individual DramaTech within IIT needs its own page. Also, please concentrate on formatting and copy editing if you want to keep someone from deleting any article you create as nonsense. Hello Disavian, thanks for your help with 2005 Texas vs. Ohio State football game and 2005 Texas Longhorn football team. The former passed its AfD with a Keep, so hopefully that is good news for the 2 GA nominations. I also split out 2005 Oklahoma vs. Texas football game.

If you are not sick of Longhorn football after all that, I'd be curious to get your input on 2007 Texas Longhorn football team. I see that 2007 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team is doing quite well. I think it is great that so many college football teams are coming into the season with articles ready to go.

On a seperate note, congratulations on getting List of Georgia Institute of Technology alumni to FL status. That is quite an accomplishment and it is a very impressive list. For your hard work on getting this list to FL status, for your success with getting several articles to GA status, and for your contributions to the GA review process, I award you the Tireless Contributor Barnstar.

Why would you delete the historical link Only two minutes after I added it to the rambling wreck page?? You obviously did not follow the link to view the page and/or it's historical nature as you deleted it only two minutes after the addition to the page. Many of the students and visitors to this page would truly have enjoyed the link and it's historical and accurate input with regard to The model A that is the georgia tech Mascot. You have deprived all of further advancing their knowledge of the history and background of such an important regional attractions -The Georgia Tech Rambling Wreck. Why automatically deprive all of furthering their knowledge of such an important part of Georgia Tech Institute? You didn't even bother to look at the nature of the link yourself. Why the Blind eye? I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Brownsville Elementary School, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hello Disavian. I noticed that you have just reverted many (all?) of my WikiProject Atlanta tagging for the Georgia Tech categories. Might I ask why? As such an advocate for banner nesting under {{WikiProjectBannerShell}}, you surely must realize that pages often properly fall under the auspices of more than one WikiProject. Such categories are for the use of everyone and cannot be owned.

As an early part of our assessment drive, I had begun tagging the articles and categories for Atlanta-based universities such as Georgia Tech, Emory, and Georgia State. We will use those categories to locate additional Atlanta articles. It's very frustrating to have someone revert my hard work without contacting me, especially someone who was kindly assisting me with new template design just a short time ago.

I respectfully request that you please revert any {{WikiProject Atlanta}} tag removals you have performed. Thank you, and have a good morning, Satori Son 04:18, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

I respectfully think that the WP:ATL (nor the WP:GA) template does not belong on the GT categories, and I will not be adding it back; I also demand that you not add it back yourself. Why?

1. I asked you to remove it the last time we had a conversation, and you did not reply.
2. As per the message mentioned in #1, you categorize category talk pages along with article talk pages in Category:WikiProject Atlanta articles. That just seems stupid and redundant.
3. The Georgia Tech categories exceed WP:ATL's scope. Most of the categories in question have nothing to do with Atlanta. Georgia Tech alumni don't all live in Atlanta; Georgia Tech professors don't all teach in Atlanta; pictures of Georgia Tech aren't all taken in Atlanta. Just because we share a lot of articles doesn't make your project a parent of mine. For example, I don't add the WP:TECH template to every person on List of Georgia Institute of Technology alumni. Why? Because they're not important to the project's goals.
4. Georgia Tech has several campuses, not just the one in Atlanta. Articles that are most relevant to WP:ATL can be tagged, but ones independent of Atlanta should be left alone. It's easy to find where you've mistagged pages, though: Talk:Discussion about this template (just speedied); Talk:History (diff); User talk:Nfreader/Decatur (a user talk page); the contents of any category remotely related to Atlanta (people: Mikey Post; places: Austell, Georgia, Bulloch Hall); companies that happen to be based out of Atlanta, but have no overwhelming effect on the city (Coca-Cola, Rich's, Davidson's are acceptable but RCA, Georgia Power are not); Talk:Hurricane Opal? I could go on. You need to control your template spam before you can begin to justify placing your template on those categories.
5. Category tagging is stupid to begin with. My project's tag is only on there because it'd be odd to have some other project's tag and not WP:TECH's.

I don't object to your tagging articles; for example, I agree that Tech Tower and Bobby Dodd Stadium should be tagged with WP:ATL, just as Georgia Tech Lorraine should be tagged by/with WP:FRANCE. As I have said before, though, you need to reexamine your project scope without depending on a bot. At least, if you plan on actually accomplishing anything. Start with the things that I have pointed out in #4 and work from there. Once you've done that, prove to me you're not just making this project to categorize articles; actually accomplish something. I'll have you know that arguing over category talk pages is an awfully fast way to lose sight of the real goal here-- to write an encyclopedia. Honestly, I am shocked by your extremely uncivil and hostile response. Obviously, you are harboring some major resentment about the new WikiProject Atlanta, and it appears I am to bear the brunt of it.

Normally, I would not reply to a personal attack such as this, but in the interest of the project I will try my best to respond to each of your points.

1. I did not see that earlier message, and I am very sorry about that. Since it was on your talk page and not mine, I mistakenly thought we were done and did not notice it. I will try to be better in the future about monitoring conversations elsewhere following comments I leave (watchlist needs a little pruning...).
2. I do not quite know how to respond to your calling my actions “stupid”. Again, I really don’t know where this hostility springs from. Many other WikiProjects use categories in this exact same manner (I lovingly stole from quite a few in my improvements to {{WikiProject Atlanta}}). What is the drawback, exactly, beside the fact you don’t like it?
3. I disagree that the Georgia Tech articles lie outside the scope of WikiProject Atlanta. I am also a member of WikiProject Georgia, and that would also apply, but even I thought that might be too much and purposefully did not apply that template. It appears your attitude violates WP:OWN.
4. I agree with you that articles independent of metro Atlanta should not be so tagged, and if I have improperly done so, I apologize. I do not operate BetacommandBot, and I did not make the request for bot tagging for {{WikiProject Atlanta}} templates. Obviously, the tagging of User talk:Nfreader/Decatur was a bot error I have now corrected. You should have taken this up with the bot operator. The other articles you mention are properly tagged: the scope of the WikiProject is the Atlanta metropolitan area, not just that which if physically located inside the boundaries of the City of Atlanta. This includes the cities of Austell and Roswell. Georgia-Power is headquartered in Atlanta. RCA has never been so tagged, so I do not know to what you are referring. I myself did not place the tag on Mikey Post or Hurricane Opal, but it is disingenuous to call such tagging “spam”.
5. Yes, I understand you think I’m stupid. There is no need to keep attacking me.

I really feel your anger and insults are completely unwarranted. WikiProject Atlanta is all of 15 days old, so to criticize us so harshly for not yet having any significant accomplishments seems petty and mean-spirited.

You are clearly an intelligent and competent editor, but you have acted completely inappropriately here. Considering the content of my first comment to you, and the courtesy I used in my request above, I am frankly stunned you have chosen to handle things in this manner. It's like I've been sucker punched by the guy whom I bought a drink and later asked nicely to not step on my foot.

That being said, I will admit to being a little naïve about all this. While I am hardly new to Wikipedia, I thought it would be fun and educational to help start a new WikiProject for the first time. And what could possibly be stressful about that, right? But based on your overt hostility, and the bickering I have now found at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject reform, I now see there is much conflict and controversy of which I was blissfully ignorant. As such, I have withdrawn from WikiProject Atlanta and WikiProject Georgia. I get enough grief and name-calling from my anti-spam and vandal work, so I don’t need to get beat up over here, too. I swear, sometimes editing Wikipedia is worse than litigation: at least in court the other lawyers don’t call you “stupid” or a "fool" (although sometimes the judge does…).

So, thanks for the lesson, anyway. I will not be bothering you again. Good luck on your own WikiProject. You're doing really great work over there, and even if your camaraderie is lacking, your contributions are sincerely appreciated. Best, Satori Son 16:28, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

WP:AIV is the "administrator's noticeboard" that deals with some things requiring administrator attention such as conflicts, legal threats, etc. Bradford made a legal threat, and an administrator decided that the "lying about credentials" section needed to go because sources weren't reliable enough and its removal did not significantly detract from the article or the encyclopedia as a whole. The discussion in question is archived at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive220#William Bradford (professor). I recently found some discrepancies between the Ramblins articles by Pat Edwards and other websites so I double checked with some GT Historians. One, in particular, was pretty familiar with Edwards and said that some of his information was poorly researched and that dates and other facts may be incorrect in his articles.

Alumni Association Homecoming - This site says homecoming started in 1920.

Ramblins: Anak -This Pat Edwards article says:

'Georgia Tech's first homecoming celebration was organized and sponsored by ANAK in 1916. It was at this time that Tech's proud tradition of combining the alumni reunions with Homecoming was established. This tradition, once unusual among colleges, continues to this day.'

I can't see anything immediately wrong with it. I've been trying to get Georgia Institute of Technology to FA status since I started editing WP, and I'm still not there, so maybe I'm not the best person to ask. My advice is to get it peer reviewed, and then nominate it for FAC. If there's something that should be changed, someone there will tell you what to do. Nice job on the references, by the way. I unfortunately do not have a link to it, but in the movie, while he is around the table in a bar, I believe it was Al Pacino's character who lists off everyone's alma matter, though I may be mistaken about who actually it was who said it. I believe he said some reference to someone else, saying "he is by your old place at Georgia Tech" or something along those lines. I also remember a flashback scene of Lomax's character having a southern accent which would support that as well (although obviously not directly since there are many colleges in the South). By the way, I've been trying to think of an alternate photo for the Student life section of the Georgia Tech article. The two Tech Tower photos seem a bit excessive. I was finally able to get around to messing with the first part of the Tech Tower history section. I always thought it was too short and didn't address the purpose of the building, what it was originally meant to do and what was inside it, and its relationship to the shop and its overall connection to the themes upon which the School was founded. This page is displaying with a horizontal scroll bar. I've not seen any other Wiki pages display like this. It only scrolls a tiny amount, but it's quite distracting. that pic on Calvin johnson's page is really just so ugly it makes me really think it was posted by someone who doesn't exactly think too well of him - it's like a paparazzi pic of someone while they're popping a zit or wiping their bum - i really think it violates his "personality rights" or whatever - i would rather have NO pic on at all than that 1 cos it's really difficult to look at and i think it really unfairly turns people off and precludes them even thinking about taking the article "seriously" or at least neutrally - doesn't that violate NPOV? specially when he's such a handsome chap otherwise

I'm aware of that page; however, I'm not doing it for performance reasons; I'm trying to clean up the Special:Whatlinkshere for Georgia Institute of Technology, a tool I've used a few times in order to expand related categories and articles. When using Special:Whatlinkshere, redirects that have links to them have those links pasted into that page. Right? For pages with redirects containing a significant number of links (ex: Georgia Tech), the Special:Whatlinkshere page doesn't follow the rules on how many links to list on a page, making link counting difficult. In addition, if a page links to both Georgia Tech and Georgia Institute of Technology, it will appear twice on the Special:Whatlinkshere for Georgia Institute of Technology. These are all minor complaints, I know, but it seems worth it to me to take care of these problems. Also, there is no "Georgia Tech University," so that one should *always* be bypassed. —Disavian (^talk/_contribs) 22:14, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

I don't understand the concern with the number and/or type of incoming links to an article. As for "Georgia Tech University," to my mind that qualifies as an unprintworthy redirect (the name is erroneous) and should be corrected rather than "bypassed." (Which may be what you're doing, I don't know.) It might be worth starting a thread on this at Wikipedia talk:Redirect, but I don't wish to do that if you're not interested; it would look like I was "reporting" you, if you see what I mean, and that isn't my intention. I think there is actually a template for unprintworthy redirects -- {{R for misspelling}} or something like that. Check WT:Redirect; there was a mention of it when I was reading the page just now. Better to add the template than to add the category, I think. --Tkynerd 22:41, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
