Message from the recent editor

Hello, I don't know if you are Korean or not but there are great number of Koreans who are against the 여성부. For I am a person who considers both sides of the opinions before making the decision, there are number of propositions which passed that majority disagrees from my research of the contributions that 여성부 made to the Korea's society. Please reconsider your edit and I understand that my writing style was not professional and expressed anger towards the ministry, but from a legitimate Korean perspective the world has the right to know the wrong/useless contributions the ministry made to the society. Please don't get me wrong, I believe strongly about women equality (although I am a man) and women should have every right the men does and men's ability/knowledge is no better than the women. However, Korean 여성부 is taking their power for granted and I honestly concern for Korea's future. Please all I am asking for is more thorough research about 여성부 and add the con's they have done for society. Do you really think changing the cross walk signals to have both men and women symbols (as the restroom symbols) will have any effect on women's equality? How about gaming shut down law they have passed, as you might know Koreans are known for their gaming abilities; lets take league of legends for example, who one the world championship 2 times in a row (from what I know)? Minors can simply use their parent's "social security" for registration, but why would they have to do such a thing when they have their lawful "social security". There actually was a trial recently concerning the game starcraft and a minor who's skills were far beyond the capability of pro-gamers but after 12 game shut down and he lost the 1st place and its cash award. Even the opponent agreed on the fact that game was fairly one sided to the Korean player and the opponent was against the shutdown law. Lets also not forget about the structure of the ministry. Yes, its all women and guess what? Women have strong protective feelings for their kids (I don't mean that men don't but Koreans do take to the extreme). Number of board members, as a mother, dismissed their son from the mandatory military services. Yes, their excuses might sound legitimate on the paper, but more than 5 board members' sons just happen to be dismissed from military? coincidence? I don't think so. Yes I understand that the President of S.Korea is a woman right now she prevents from dismissal of the 여성부 but we'll see how long it will go once the president changes. Oh also lets not forget about the law against physical punishment to the students in the school, I my self is only 22 years old but Korean kids need to grow up with physical punishment, or they will not learn to respect their elders like Americans. This one I can actually provide you the new letter source since I just read it too, http://www.bada.tv/common/app/movie.html?act=listbody&page=1&no=340885. And I don't know if you are aware there are number of videos online which young people in Korea talk disrespectfully to the elders and picking a fight for no legitimate reason (even if the elder was doing nothing wrong). Yes I do sound strongly against 여성부 because I am, but please look beyond my anger and with all do respect, I request for you reconsideration of 여성부 and upload as much of the negative doings of the ministry as the the goods they've done. For anymore information and if you would like to personally discuss about this matter, I can be reached at dandan323@gmail.com. Thank you very much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 163.40.114.56 (talk) 02:37, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

Declined speedy

I declined the speedy at The Last Skeptik and cleaned the article up, since there does seem to be some notability asserted. It was certainly promotional, but I don't think it was intentionally done- which is why I left the history of the article intact rather than just delete and restart. AfD is probably the next option here if you want to pursue deletion any further. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:41, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

sources at the MRM

Hey 123 - Thank you for pointing out some sources you considered iffy, and removing the boston mag one. I don't know how long you've been following the article, but just in case you weren't aware, another chronic problem is sources that *are* reliable being twisted to represent a position that they don't at all support. Where you have access to the original sources and the time to do so, it's worth checking any statement that sounds weird vs the text of the original source to make sure the source supports the statement. Last time I did spent the time to check a lot of the sources in the article I found at least six or seven sources that were reliable but didn't say what the article claimed they did. Assassination of Theo Van Gogh

Excuse me! Why that page is getting reverted. First and foremost, there are assassination articles on Mahatma Gandhi. If its that so why that page exist. Revert / Redirect that article to Mahatma Gandhi? Van Gogh's assassination is main plot and was killed brutally by assassin Mohd Bouyeri. And Gandhi was killed by Nathuram Godse. Does contributing is not enough or what? Sir, nearly dozen pages are created. But policies handcuffs us to make pages wisely. And for kind information, its a clear sir, clear case of "Civilian Attack". Bouyeri's motive was to show Van Gogh's action. Sir, if you dont believe here are clear cases of civilian attacks 2002 Gujarat riots, Bombay Riots, Demolition of Babri Mosque. Is this will be enough or still you want more? 42.104.2.147 (talk) 02:52, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi, 123chess456. I saw you added a pp-sock template to N++ after I semi'd it. I didn't know that. Sock of who? (And how can you tell?) Bishonen | talk 13:04, 28 May 2014 (UTC).

IP socks adding the same text repeatedly. No account to name though. Still, WP:DUCK. Are IPs counted as socks? I've reported some to SPI before. 123chess456 (talk) 13:10, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, I found the SPI just after I posted the unnecessary question here, sorry about that. Technically they do count as socks, but there's often not much point in pursuing that angle, esp not with dynamic IPs. Semi's more likely to work. I've commented at the SPI, recommending it be closed, since the IPs have both been blocked for vandalism anyway. They sure have some interesting edit summaries! :-) I only semi'd the article for a week, as it hadn't been protected before, but please feel free to drop a note on my page if it turns out to need more. Prince's Palace Edit

Hi, I recently edited the Prince's Palace of Monaco page, and you reverted it back. I think this is a mistake because I worked really hard to make the language of the page understandable and easy to read for those that come to Wikipedia for information and learning purposes. Most times, it is young students that use this website, and I want to make sure that they can get the most content out of the page by actually comprehending what they read. If you could leave my edit, I would really appreciate it. Thank you. Stephalbook (talk) 02:14, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

@Stephalbook: I think if you would like to simplify the article, you can go to the Simple English Wikipedia, which is basically all the English articles on the English Wikipedia, but explained in simpler terms. I would suggest you go there, and create an equivalent page using simpler language. 123chess456 (talk) 02:19, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

Comma Johanneum edit

Hi. I removed the information on Fickermann and Metzger because it is wrong. It is untrue, and the contributor who edited that has known that it is untrue for several years now. The following is in the text of the article:

This argumentum ex silentio has been contested by other scholars, including Fickermann and Metzger.

The problem is that this statement is FALSE - Metzger NEVER contested this silence claim. The citation made in the footnote (number 28) quotes Metzger as saying something he never said as it is given. Metzger's "Annotated Bibliography of TC" provides SUMMARIES of works between 1914 and 1939. One of those is from an obscure writer named Norbert Fickermann, who nobody seems to know anything at all about other than this one nine-page article. On page 113, he cites Fickermann's article and summarizes it with the words alleged to represent Metzger's opinion. This is UNTRUE: it never was Metzger's opinion - it was merely a summary of the contents of Fickermann's article. It is somewhat accurate to say this was Fickermann's view, but it was never Metzger's. And as I've noted - the person whose obssession in life it is to constantly put irrelevant information on Wikipedia to support his minority view has been told about this more than a dozen times over the past two years or more. It is something he KNOWS is false. The information is simply incorrect. And that is why I edited it.

Mulgrave School

Hi, 123chess456. You undid the edits that I made to the Mulgrave School page. I work at the school and made edits after it was vandalised with incorrect information about the running of the school. The changes I made are correct. Thank you. Lizacalderon; talk 13:04, 4 June 2014 (UTC).

@Lizacalderon: Unfortunately, you have to provide reliable sources if you want to change things in an article. If you don't, it is considered "original research". Your edits, however, do not seem to be all about removing incorrect information. You have added a typo, unwikified a section, and removed content without saying why it's false. The constructive part of the edit was correcting somebodies name. I, unfortunately, will have to remove most of your edit. Novato 123chess456 (talk) 23:30, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Your rollback request

Hi 123chess456, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request. Please be aware that rollback should be used to revert vandalism, spam and blatantly unconstructive edits; using it to revert any other type of edit - such as by revert-warring or reverting edits you disagree with - can lead to it being removed from your account...sometimes without any warning, as some admins do not give a warning if they become aware of any misuse. If you think an edit should require a reason for reverting, use a manual edit summary instead of using the rollback tool. For practice, you may wish to review Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 08:40, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

List of The Dukes episodes edit rejection

Hi, you rejected my edit to the first episode of The Dukes cartoon. I'm sorry but this is not vandalism, The Dukes do not have a cousin in Australia who is a boxer, he does, in fact, have a boxing kangaroo. I am a fan of the Dukes of Hazzard and I'm only trying to set the record straight. I would never spread a falsehood about the Dukes of Hazzard, even a falsehood on Coy and Vance (not that this is directly about Coy and Vance even though they are in this episode, I'm just making a point on my integrity, especially when it involves the Dukes of Hazzard). If you like I can send you a screenshot from the DVD. I know it might sound ridiculous but there's also an episode about a genie and one about leprechauns. A boxing kangaroo is much more realistic than those things, don't you think? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.86.8.128 (talk) 02:06, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

If you have a reliable source (in this case the actual episode itself), then you should state in the edit summary that it exists! As Dukes of Hazzard is very slapstick and inane, I could imagine a boxing kangaroo at one point. Although, we can't use the screenshots on Wikipedia due to copyright issues, I'd be happy if you were to link me to some sort of episode summary. Novato 123chess456 (talk) 02:27, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/International Association for Mission Studies.

Hi there!

I am wondering what else I need to improve in the article I have proposed? I already removed a picture (as suggested, 24 April 2014), then I provided necessary context for those unfamiliar with the subject (in response to the comment of 19 May 2014), and now I received a comment that the article lacks evidence of subject’s notability. We have already provided enough independent secondary references (“enough” for such topic as “The International Association for Mission Studies”) – what else do we need to provide?

What were the criteria when Wikipedia approved the article https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Association_for_Mission_Studies (at the “German” Wikipedia)? Do you want that we quote 20 or more references to make the article “notable”?

Please help us see the article published at Wikipedia!

VAM

Hi, thanks for the !vote of support at the VAM category page. I see your point, but I think we should wait a while before having a discussion around inclusion criteria; if the category is kept, the atmosphere is so politically charged that it will be really difficult to do. And while I understand your suggestion to only focus on things that are targeted at men, it seems rather odd when the VAW category contains a number of articles on forms of violence that are directed at both men and women. For example, domestic violence, depending on which statistics you look at and in which country, has a significant minority of victims being men. the same applies for things like rape, which are also prevalent forms of violence males are exposed to, but often in different circumstances. Acid attacks have been framed as violence against women, yet in some countries, according to the best research, men are actually the majority of victims. Doing a "whoever the majority violence is directed to gets the category added, otherwise nyet" doesn't seem very neutral, and will lead to strange things like cases of men being raped which aren't under VAM but only under VAW. There's no perfect solution, I'm just pointing out some challenges in sorting this out. My leaning with categories is ultimately to try to be more rather than less inclusive. Thanks again though for your thoughtful contributions, it's nice to have someone who engages with the material and doesn't pre-judge (which others seem to have, unfortunately). It also means a lot when someone, anyone, defends me from the vicious attacks that have been made against me, so I appreciate that as well. Cheers --Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 01:57, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
