Hi

Hi mate. thanks a lot for the assistance. Do what you can, dont worry about Grammar... it usually gets fixed very quickly. Why dont you join the Indian military history task force. That gives a lot of help in figuring out whats needed. Also, other groups are WikiProject Aircraft and others.

See you around.. cheers. Sniperz11 12:38, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ajay. Great going with the Template:Indian Army Arms and Services page. However, I don't know how useful it will be, especially since almost all the links are dead, and dont have any pages created yet. Still, it will be quite useful... make sure that it doesn't get orphaned. The best way to do that is to create a user sub-page and copy the code onto there, as well as link the template there. I'd also suggest posting it on the army talk page and asking for consensus... its a good way to improve it or change it.
Another useful thing that I find is to create my user sub pages, and create stuff there.... take a look at User:Sniperz11/Subpages for an example... its less messier than creating a proper wikipedia page and tinkering with it (although I'm sure you already know this).
As for your point in the Army talk page about weapon systems, its quite valid, and I agree... you did the right thing by posting it there... you can also post a link to your template and ask for opinions there.
P.S.: when you post a comment on the talk page, sign your comments by typing ~~~ (name only) or ~~~~ (For name and date). Cheers. Sniperz11 14:23, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
you don't need to take any permission to create a page or a user sub-page. Just create the link and edit it..
But for Wikipedia Article pages, usually, (especially if the page is under purview of one or more wikiprojects), its a good idea to create the page in a user sub-page, and ask for opinions at the relevant project page... that way, it becomes visible and starts to draw editors, as well as prevents from getting orphaned and deleted. Of course, if there isn't any response, you can just create the page, add it to the suitable wikiproject, and people will come start editing it eventually.
Another good thing to do when you create the page is to create redirects to it. For example, Kargil War, Kargil Conflict, Indo-Pakistan War of 1999, etc. are all the same. But if you search for them, only one will get you to the right place. So you go to each of those pages, and redirect them to the correct place. Sniperz11 00:52, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:StarOne.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:StarOne.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:18, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Hi Ajay,

Sorry that your edits got reverted. Trust its been a good learning though through the perilous jungle of Wikipedia. Regards, AshLin 04:55, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ajay,
Do visit my user page! AshLin is what my friends from ILUG-Delhi (Indian Linux Users Group) call me as they dont like the 'win' part because of 'Windows'. Yes, Im in the Army, in the Sappers, been through Op Vijay, served in J&K, presently in Binnaguri, North Bengal. Im unofficial coordinator of WikiProject Lepidoptera and have 5000 plus edits to my name - there I'm done bragging ;-)!
Feel free to appch me over any general queries or for peer review. However, I stick to Wikipedia and donot participate in any other defence-related blog/wiki etc. I can only give factual information or common knowledge. For specific comments, I'll be constrained to toe the official line on things because all defence services officers sign the Indian Officials Secrets Act. I am interested in the indian army in 1943-45 and their compaigns

my email address is ag123123@hotmail.com My interest is not political or as a student. Just an interest as to how the Indian army in conjunction with the British stemmed the Japanese invasion of India. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.170.204.80 (talk) 16:11, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indian cinema

Yes I have done a lot of work on Indian films and lists but predominantly Bollywood which I have split by year. Due the fact that the original Tamil and Telugu list were so incomprehendable I only split them by decade and haven't cleaned them up because I have no knowledge of the films and imdb is very poor for tamil and telugu. I had strongly hoped that somebody from Indian cinema would come along and beautify them like the Bollywood films which I split by year and are now linked in Template:Bollywood. I strongly urge somebody to do the same with Tamil and Telegu films - a detailed guide by year (given the sheer amount of films) and have the Template:Tamilcinema linked with the years in Tamil film at the bottom of every article like bollywood. i'd like to see cleaned up and developed pages like Tamil films of 1972 like Bollywood films of 1972etc. Unfortunately it never seems like anybody except Shahid, Bollywood dreamz and universal hero are consistently active in this group aside from myself, let alone in Tamil or telugu cinema. pLease can somebody clean up the tamil and telegu lists and perhaps from 1950 onwards split by year like Bollywood. Bollywood is in the middle of development. Ideally I want tamil and telugu to have pages like :

Yes imdb is shocking for the Indian films aside from Bollywood -there is no info available whatsoever. Whilst I am a fan of Bollywood mostly I;d love to see Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema develop too and have some kind of equal coverage - I;m sure there is a huge amount of info that can be written for these films and full articles eventually but any that is available is likely to be in the native languages of course. You;ve done exactly what I wanted to see for Telugu films of the 2000s. I;ve now linked them in the side plate. If you could generate pages like this for Telugu it would be half the weight of my shoulders with my concerns for Indian cinema - I hope somebody else can follow mine or your example for tamil film also. Keep up the good work. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ Talk? 15:57, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One of the tasls will be to ensure that every film whether it is bollywood, tollywood, kollywood, mollywood or whatever connects to the "Catalogue" of films by year. I feel we will have our indian films under control if we can achieve this -it lays out the history of the cinema in a highly oeganized way and allows quick access. I am going to be going through bollywood films and adding both the Template:Bollywood and Template:CinemaofIndia if you could ensure all telugu films have these at the foot things will become connected and develop well:
