UFC on FX: Guillard vs. Miller UFC on Fox: Evans vs. Davis UFC 143

UFC on Fox: Evans vs. Davis was the second event that the UFC aired on Fox but the first to show a full fight card when UFC on Fox: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos aired only a single fight. Held at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, almost 17,000 people were in attendance[1] and 4.7 million watched on TV.[2]

The event was the first to be broadcast on Fox as part of a seven year agreement between the UFC and the network and the second to air live on Fox after the inaugural UFC on Fox: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos.[3]

A bout between Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Wineland was originally slated for this event. However, Johnson was pulled from the bout to be a participant in the UFC's Flyweight tournament set to begin in March. Wineland was then expected to face Johnny Bedford at this event.[4] However, Wineland himself was forced out of the bout with an injury and replaced by promotional newcomer Mitch Gagnon.[5] Then just days before the event, the bout was cancelled due to an alleged visa issue for Gagnon.[6]

Paul Sass was expected to face Evan Dunham, but was forced from the bout with an injury and replaced by Nik Lentz.[7]

Cody McKenzie was expected to face Michael Johnson at the event, but was forced from the bout with an injury and replaced by Shane Roller.[8]

Mark Munoz was expected to face Chael Sonnen in a #1 contender's bout for a middleweight title shot, but was forced out of the bout with an injury, and was replaced by Michael Bisping, who was pulled from a scheduled fight with Demian Maia.[9] Chris Weidman would step in on 11 days notice to face Maia as Bisping's replacement.[10]

The preliminary bout between Chris Camozzi and Dustin Jacoby was not aired on television or Facebook, making it the first bout on a UFC card to go unaired on the event's live broadcast since UFC Fight Night: Nogueira vs. Davis in March 2011.[11]

Rashad Evans faced Phil Davis in the main event which Evans won by unanimous decision. With his win, Evans is expected to face his former teammate Jon Jones in a highly anticipated Light Heavyweight Championship fight at UFC 145. In the co-main event Chael Sonnen defeated Michael Bisping by unanimous decision. Sonnen's win puts him in position for a second shot at Anderson Silva for the Middleweight Championship.[12]

The bonus award for fight of the night was given to Evan Dunham and Nik Lentz which ended after two rounds due to a doctor's stoppage. Lavar Johnson earned the knockout of the night award after knocking out Joey Beltran in 4:24 of the first round. A "calf-slicer" submission over Eric Wisely earned Charles Oliveira submission of the night honors.[13]
