i am writing an essay about the duomo and i've noticed that the construction didn't last for "almost 3 centuries" but i fact a bit over two (1292(the year of the laying of the flagstone) - 1503). if there is more to it, it isn't mentioned and there are no other signs of being any other additions(save the conservation reconstructions). i'll wait for few days for an answer and then, if there won't be any, i'll change the figures.--PrimEviL 04:43, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, well... it turned out i was wrong... the work on the cathedral in fact DID last for ~three centuries... it's just that here aren't listed all the stages of the construction - http://www.comune.orvieto.tr.it/i/389FDC6E.htm here i've found the mention of 1607 as the year of completition of the spires. There is a mistake in this information: "Above this decoration are glittering mosaics created between 1350 and 1390 after designs by artist Cesare Nebbia". Nebbia was a Mannerist artist. Ricardo Frantz (talk) 20:03, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Somehow it does not seem very probable that Ippolito Scalza designed The Cathedral organ in fifteenth century and created Pieta in 1579. That Pieta was finished in 1579 is confirmed by the carved inscription on it. Then something is wrong about the dating of the organ. Pieta by Scalza deserves being shown in the Orvieto Cathedral article. I have a photo of it.
