Is there any possibility of encyclopedic content here for the next 80-90 years or so ? If not, we should probably delete it (along with the 23rd century page) for now. Idle speculation is not encyclopedia content. --Robert Merkel

I agree With user ip 88.159.74.89. im currently looking to Find a wikipedia Artical that details Science fiction Events like this page for the years from 2000 to 2030 becasue as we move though this time period alot of this information i cant find on Wikipedia and i agree with you i would get a kick out of reading it like i do this 22nd century artical. id enjoy reading about back to the future or even blade runner chronology and seeing them all lumped together like this in one place for general comparison. 76.244.151.164 (talk) 02:44, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

I see its not up there on the list of things, yet is refrenced to in the Wikipedia page on the Kardashev Scale. Should it be? Thanks.

Before I go and delete everything, let me first propose it. The Indian Indepence is going to get 100 years older every century - the fact that it's going to be 200 years old doesn't make the 22nd century special. I'd say only 100/250/500/750/etc are significant. So I propose to remove everyhing from the list except the WTC attacks (100 years) and the birth of Bach (500). Frankly everything will have an anniversary which is a multiple of 100 during this century. Including any anniversary less than about 500 is really pointless, and probably the whole section. DJ Clayworth 16:06, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

The redirect for the link 2150 refers to a work of fiction and not the year 2150, how do you go about changing that? i know that there is no page for the year 2150 as of such but was still wondering if that should be changed Lamuk69 (talk) 10:20, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

I would note that "21:13" by Coheed and Cambria refers to a time as opposed to a year (ie 9:13 in 12 hour clock).

At year 2130, the Sun will pass through solar-system barycenter, according to DE405 ephemerides by JPL, at euclidean distance of 15.6Mm. This event is not much frequent, but rather important, so I mentioned it here...

This result may get just any amateur now, with wiki, computer and other publicly available informations... The time of United inteligence comes (onto 2030)...

4 May 2102: There is a slight possibility that the asteroid 2004 VD17 will impact Earth

now that kind of scares me for i think its the biggest 1 so,WE'RE ALL GONNA BE DESTROYED!!!!!!!!!!!

I've put up the disputed tag because I think each year in this century, and for that matter, all centuries, are inherently notable. This morning someone else disagreed with this, and I wanted to come here to the talk page of this century where I began to remove redirects to the century as a whole for indvidual years yesterday. Hopefully we can gain a consensus in one way or another rather than have an edit war off the talk page. Just H 14:19, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

• I don't think any individual year, beyond the 21st century, can be notable enough to have a page of its own. The most distant year to have a page of its own is 2065 and I think that's far enough for now. What information beyond anniversaries and fictional and astronomical events (all of which are on the century's page anyway) can be put on these suggested pages?

Will global cooling also occur in the 22nd century? It could happen, if we more than stop global warming for the remainder of the 21st century. Then the world will grow cooler. Could there be a population decline in the 22nd century? We could, because the world's population is projected to fall between 2050 and 2300, but it's supposed to increase slowly first. If we get underpopulation by the second half of the 22nd century, most likely, the world's population may decline from 11 billion to 9 billion. 75.10.106.254, 02:58 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Why do additions of the Canadian Punk band 22nd Century get deleted? According to Wikipedia's music policy, the band has met several key criteria. Is there a process out there that has to be fulfilled?

musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, DJ, musical theatre group, etc.) may be notable if it meets at least one of the following criteria:

1. Has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician or ensemble itself and reliable.[note 1]

• This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries[note 2] except for the following:

4. Has received non-trivial coverage in a reliable source of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country.

• • 22nd Century has recently placed in LA (different country that Canada) headlining to a sold out show of 4000 people.

5. Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable).

6. Is an ensemble which contains two or more independently notable musicians, or is a musician who has been a member of two or more independently notable ensembles.

• • 22nd Century has both Duane Chaos and Zippy Pinhead who are noted in other wikipedia articles and are definitely notable.

7. Has become the most prominent representative of a notable style or of the local scene of a city; note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability.

8. Has won or been nominated for a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno, Mercury, Choice or Grammis award.

9. Has won or placed in a major music competition.

• • 22nd Century was awarded an honorable mention in the 2009 Billboard Songwriting contest.

10. Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album, etc. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that article.)

• • 22nd Century has recently signed for RNR Radios second compilation CD of a series. The last one sold over 75,000 copies. Due out in 2010.

11. Has been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network.

• • 22nd Century is played on over 65 radio stations worldwide

12. Has been the subject of a half hour or longer broadcast across a national radio or TV network.

• • 22nd Century has had a few of these in 2009

Regardless of any of the above (which I did not read per WP:TLDR), a band named "22nd Century" does not belong in this article any more than a band named "1888" belongs in the 1888 article. The band is a real thing that really occurs in the real 21st Century (that would be now, in case there is any confusion about the temporal thingy, I've certainly wondered what century I was living in from time to time). Regardless of its name, it cannot go here because of when it occurs. It is Off Topic to the article because it does not occur at the time of which this article is the subject. We're talking about a time here in this article, not things named after that time.

This article is for things that occur in the 22nd Century, both factual and fictional. This band does not do either of those things. You can assert, for the sake of argument, that it will do that, but a whole lot of editors will jump on that per Wikipedia policy WP:CRYSTAL.

Try reading the whole article as an editor of Wikipedia, rather than with a particular bias for a particular subject. You'll get the idea of what things belong here.

If the band is notable, perhaps meeting the qualifications of WP:BAND (for which I don't see any evidence of the above, but see WP:TLDR)), a new article 22nd Century (band) could be created, and a hat note added to this article in case someone looking for the band were directed here.

A quick scan seems to indicate you're conflating "certified downloads" with "purchase", for the purpose of the "Gold record" "radio station" for "(major) national network", and playing in venues in two countries as an "international concert tour". — Arthur Rubin (talk) 17:22, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Arthur: That would be acceptable. The largest issue has been that many fans find themselves on this page with no link to disambiguate the band from the century. As an ontologist I can appreciate the purity of which Wikipedia strives to adhere to but also must note than 99% of the world simply punches in "22nd Century" in a search engine and finds themselves on Wikipedia's page. Since the band is named after the century, I would argue a connection and hence relevancy. Granted. There is a disambiguation problem with the encyclopedia with reference to "22nd Century". Past precedents have to be looked at to figure out how to fix it. Personally, I think a disambiguation page is needed here. —Aladdin Sane (talk) 20:04, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
