Adam Tahir, more commonly known by his pseudonym Haz al-Din, is a Lebanese American YouTuber and political personality known for his online debates and political views. He is known for being associated with and promoting the MAGA communism movement across various of his social media platforms.

Early life and experiences

Haz al-Din was reportedly born in Dearborn, Michigan in 1996. In an interview, he stated that from the age of 12, he became fascinated by the concepts of Marxism and the Left, and by 14 he had started to adopt Marxism as a worldview. He said that he originally began as a Western Marxist, but began experiencing doubts about Western Marxism, as a result of his "increased knowledge and familiarity with philosophies and various thinkers". This led to a rapid deterioration in his support for and association with the "discursive Marxist Left", concluding that it was "radically incompatible" with his justification for the truth of Marxism and that modern Leftism was part of "a new class completely loyal to the ruling class". He therefore became aligned with Marxism–Leninism as he recognised its significance in defining "the meaning of class and Marx's discovery".[8]

Public Presence and Online Activity

Haz's first boost in notoriety came when he debated Xanderhal in February 2021.[9] In the debate, he justified Stalinism and Joseph Stalin's rule of the Soviet Union. His next debate featured him debating Vaush, where he expressed his endorsement of Russia,[10] leading to some accusing him of being a fascist. From there, he also took part in online debates with other left-wing YouTubers like Socialism Done Left and Destiny.[11][12] This led to him gaining more publicity in online left-wing media, with some describing his views as fascist, nationalist and far-right.

He expressed support for Russia's "Special Military Operation",[13] and justified it through a Marxist analysis of the conflict.[14] Following the beginning of the Israel–Hamas war in October 2023, Haz condemned Israel and the Israel Defense Forces as terrorists and war criminals,[15][16] as well as the Zionist Israel lobby in the United States as spreading pro-Israel propaganda and funding what amounted to a genocide of the Palestinians.[17][18][19]

On March 3rd, 2024, Haz lauded the achievements of George Galloway and the Workers Party of Britain in winning the 2024 Rochdale by-election, stating that it was a "major breakthrough", a "rebirth of left-wing politics" in the United Kingdom and a major victory against the "hegemony of the imperialist ruling class in the UK".

On March 8th, 2024, Haz visited Moscow and met with Aleksandr Dugin, with whom he took a picture. Concerning his visit, he stated "I had the great honour of speaking to professor Alexander Dugin while in Moscow. I have been greatly influenced by many of Dugin's ideas for some time. But after speaking to him both on and off camera, I can confidently say I have met one of the most powerful minds of our era!".[20] This was significant for the MAGA Communism movement as Aleksandr Dugin had previously called MAGA Communism a "viable leftist perspective", saying he believed that they were "committed to dismantling liberal dominance".[21]

Political Beliefs and Involvement

Haz al-Din has repeatedly expressed his position as a fervent communist, Marxist-Leninist,[22] Neo-Stalinist[23][24] and follower of the MAGA Communist movement.[25] In addition to this, he adopted an anti-Zionist stance, shown by his frequent criticism and outright condemnation of Zionism and the State of Israel, seeing the war as a genocide funded by US elites.

On the 21st July, 2024, he became one of the ten founding members of the American Communist Party as part of the Plenary Committee of the American Communist Party during the signing of the Declaration of the ACP in Chicago Illinois.[26] [27] Simultaneously, he became the Executive Chairman of the American Communist Party.[28]
