The women's 4 × 400 metres relay at the 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships was held on the short track of Omnisport in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, on 9 March 2025. It was the thirteenth time the event was contested at the European Athletics Indoor Championships. The race was won by the team of the Netherlands in a championship record and Dutch record of 3:24.34 minutes, followed by the team of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with a British record of 3:24.89 minutes and the team of the Czech Republic with a Czech record of 3:25.31 minutes. Outside the medals, the teams of Spain and France also set national records.

Background

The women's 4 × 400 metres relay was contested 12 times before 2025, at every edition of the European Athletics Indoor Championships since 2000.[2] The 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships will be held in Omnisport Apeldoorn in Apeldoorn, Netherlands.[3] The removable indoor athletics track was retopped for these championships in September 2024.[3]

Russia is the world and European record holder in the event, with a time of 3:23.37, set in 2006. The championship record is held by the Netherlands, with a time of 3:25.66, set at the 2023 championships.[citation needed]

Qualification

In the women's 4 × 400 metres relay, host country the Netherlands was allocated one place. Three places were allocated in accordance with the order of the ranking of the European Athletics member federation official teams in 4 × 400 m combined outdoor lists 2024. The other two places were allocated in accordance with the accumulated 400 m times of individual athletes from 2024 indoor season as at 10 days prior to the first day of the European Athletics Indoor Championships (24 February 2025).[7]
