Active in 2022

In the list of translators for Spanish, it says "Active in 2021". Why there is no list for active in 2022? We are almost at the end of 2022. --Thinker78 (talk) 17:11, 22 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Should This List Be Updated More Frequently Because of the Scarcity of Translators?

How often is this list updated? I would have this list updated every month or two, or once or twice per year (I'm not sure which of these options is best). One reason that an English-language article can have some translated text from a foreign-language article inserted into it is that it's with the goal of getting that English article to GA or FA status. When doing such jobs myself, I usually leave other editors to improve and clean-up that text (depending on how bad-looking Google's translation is), because I can't do such efforts entirely by myself. The scarcity and non-availability of translators in the English Wikipedia (sometimes lasting for literally years after such users' most recent edit) is sometimes frustrating when I end up being the only one engaging in such tasks. One reason for that being the foreign language counterpart may have material that the English version doesn't have.Jim856796 (talk) 18:20, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Manual lists always go out of date. There was a time when I scanned lists of translators, and then compared to their last active period of editing, and my hit rate was less than 10%, sometimes zero. Imho, the individual names should all be removed, and replaced with a link, perhaps to Petscan, which would generate a list of translators for a given language based on a number of sources, including various user talk page templates like {{Babel}} and others. One of the sources could be a manual sign-up page where users could add themselves, but such a page should be only one of numerous sources, and names should auto-expire after a certain interval, to prevent stale entries. Alternatively, populated by bot with a list of individuals resulting from following such a link and de-duping and sorting the results. Running such a bot weekly or even monthly should be more than sufficient. Mathglot (talk) 01:12, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
