Response regarding "attempts to spread misninformation"

This AfD has closed shortly after an IP editor says I'm attempting to spread misinformation, leaving me no way to respond.

Since the other editor has offered more sources, I wish they'd put this info on the talk page for me to use, rather than suggesting that I'm acting in bad faith and somehow not living up to being an officer of my local chapter. I'm not a full time investigative journalist or paid staff person; I'm a volunteer adding citations in her spare time. I'm perfectly willing to stand corrected when someone provides more complete information; that's how Wikipedia works. Djembayz (talk) 11:40, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's not a matter of acting in bad faith, but of performing due diligence. What we write should be true; it is an ethical responsibility to our readers. If that's not "how Wikipedia works," it's why Wikipedia should be abolished. In this instance you went out of your way, as did other "keeps," to maintain false information about the same indigenous peoples you mean to defend.
Intentions are not enough. If you care about indigenous peoples and their cultures, take the time (as in the next say five years) to learn about them, and write based upon what you've learned. Familiarity with Wikipedia nomenclatures and procedures is not the same as knowledge.24.22.129.215 (talk) 23:05, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
