I think this should be placed on deletion review. The delete votes were a clear majority, but most of them were of a "I don't like it" variety. They did not take into account policy on lists or counter the argument about there being a Category:Lists of companies by country.--T. Anthony (talk) 00:29, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi T. Anthony, there are situations where consensus cannot be allowed to over-rule policy, the most common examples being situations involving libel or copyright. However, in this case, I don't believe the consensus went against policy, and the relevant style guideline says "a category may be a more appropriate method of organization". However, given your concerns, I suggest you list this at deletion review. PhilKnight (talk) 01:11, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. Well, I'm less certain now. I'll have to think about it.--T. Anthony (talk) 03:15, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clarifying policy

I am trying to get consensus on a way to clarify the policies related to this AFD. Please comment at Wikipedia_talk:What_Wikipedia_is_not#Can_we_clarify_NOTDIRECTORY.3F, especially with AFDs similar to this one. NJGW (talk) 17:57, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
