After Simmerdon was blocked, this account has continued their edit war at Infinity Train and Summer Camp Island. Sir Sputnik (talk) 00:44, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • CheckUser requested and endorsed by clerk - The two accounts have substantial parallel editing prior to the block, so I think there is a reasonable chance this is not one person, but the shared edit-warring behaviour is suspicious enough to warrant a look at the technical details. • Yes ma'am? There is nothing to see here. I looked. Drmies (talk) 01:45, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • As much as I want to call duck, there's no technical or behavioral evidence linking them (other than the edit war and a few articles worth of overlap, obviously). Unless they can travel some thousands of miles in a matter of minutes (and there's no evidence of proxies), they're Red X Unrelated - in other words, "what Drmies said". I'd block for edit warring, but the article is already protected, so I don't think there's anything to do but keep an eye on behavior. ST47 (talk) 04:16, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

Since starting on June 4th, this user has made about 1100 edits, showing strong knowledge of our processes, and a distinct lack of WP:PRECOCIOUS editing. They spent most of their first few days of edits making citation corrections - too many to list, but here are some examples [3] (1st), [4], [5], [6], [7], [8]. Sockpuppets are known to pad their initial edits with innocuous gnome work to add legitimacy and get past edit limits, whereas genuine new users often aren't familiar with citation formatting to this degree.

After about a few days of these types of edits, their focus switched to articles related to current event social issues, discussions, and voting - with increasing levels of vitriol and violations of process:

This appears to be a user returning after a block/ban or an invalid alt to be used for voting/controversial editing, who largely focuses on current television. I have specifically asked BaseFree if they new or a WP:VALIDALT and they replied "I’m new.".

In addition to the account timing, knowledge, and overlapping subject interests which I suspect connect BaseFree with Simmerdon3448, there is another "tell" which I identified, but don't want to post openly and can provide privately if a checkuser is indeterminate. -- Netoholic @ 16:38, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
