Suspected sockpuppets

Both are inserting essentially the same content to International Baccalaureate. The alleged sock has no edits to anything else. Jasper Deng (talk) 17:44, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That is correct, I apologize for doing this as they are two different browsers and I get confused from time to time. I will log out of the other account and stick to this one. My apologies. Hellofriendshello (talk) 17:49, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Hellofriendshello: As long as you don't do it again, it's good. I've removed the CheckUser request and it can be closed by a clerk. You should however declare more directly that you operate both on their userpages.--Jasper Deng (talk) 18:47, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • How is this possibly "good"? A user is using two different accounts simultaneously. He was tag teaming both an article and its talk page without disclosing that he is the same user. What possible good faith reason is there for this? He made an improperly sourced controversial edit as Hellofriendshello [1], undid himself and replaced it with a worse version [2] When that was undone by an IP he used his other account Savaajankovic to restore an even more extreme version [3]. Three minutes later he shows up as Hellofriendshello again, undoes himself supposedly for grammar errors [4] and then restores a functionally identical version [5]. He switched back to Savaajankovic to undo a different removal to the same article, and used both accounts to post to the article's talk page.. Now that he's at SPI he's attempting to backpedal. Too late. My AGF is done. I spent considerable time discussing this issue on the talk page only to find that a user is using two accounts in what appears to be an attempt to influence the article content. See Talk:International_Baccalaureate#2020_Grading_Scheme_Allegations fpr an analysis of the problems (non-reliable sources, direct quotes that are not in the sources, scare quotes, POV, etc) And now he has declared that he "did get banned here when I was like 9? I think." [6] Meters (talk) 01:46, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hellofriendshello's claim that they were unaware they were using multiple accounts improperly seems improbable. Editing with two different browsers at the same time (back and forth within minutes of each other) is quite unusual, and I also note that Savaajankovic's most recent edit caused Savaajankovic and Hellofriendshello taken together to violate the three-revert rule, which Hellofriendshello was warned of prior to the edit. Overall, I am sympathetic to Meters' assessment of the disruptiveness of this situation, so to prevent further disruption I will be blocking the Savaajankovic account indefinitely, and as a means of requiring consensus before reinserting the disputed material on the International Baccalaureate, I will partially block the Hellofriendshello account from editing that article for a period of 1 week. A bit of a creative/nonstandard solution, but given Hellofriendshello's willing disclosure above, I don't think there is sufficient justification for a harsher sanction.
