Suspected sockpuppets

There's been some edit-warring, name-calling and refactoring at Talk:Harold Covington recently; and some legal threats there about five years ago.

User Haroldcovington claimed to be the subject of the article in 2006, and signed himself "HAC". He suggested that the article was libelous.

In February 2011, user HACovington made some edits supportive of Covington on the Harold Covington article.

On July 19 2011, NorthwestVolunteer was blocked for edit warring, with some strong warnings on their talk page about their seemingly having created their account to evade scrutiny of the actions of their IP address. NorthwestVolunteer also removed content from the talk page, while claiming to be the subject of the article (Harold Covington), and signing themselves as "HAC".

A couple of hours after NorthwestVolunteer's block expired, Forky1138 removed exactly the same content from the talk page, while also adding a link to Harold Covington's blog. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 14:01, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I became a witness to some of this latest activity shortly after the case appeared at AN/I. I attempted to post a cordial greeting, and after doing so, looked up the page to find the five year old legal threat, further commenting on AN/I regarding it. I do not know if it's possible to look up IPs from five years ago, but the recent ones regarding NorthwestVolunteer and Forky1138 are definitely ones that can be investigated against the IP. From all appearances, Covington is extremely concerned about his image here, and while that's fine, he still has to abide by the same rules regarding talk page conduct and reliable sources. And, above all, only using one account. I'm interested in what turns up at this one. CycloneGU (talk) 16:08, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Evidently a sockpuppet IP, spamming talk pages and signing with the name Harold Covington, they name of the original, banned account.
