Suspected sockpuppets

IP 108.34.150.59 was engaged in a series of disruptive and inappropriate edits on Chris Kyle and American Sniper (book) (see contribution history. Much of this involved reverting to an edit attempted by DHeyward, and the IP appeared shortly after DHeyward stopped editing on the page.

In addition, DHeyward and the IP editor attempt to use the same keywords to justify their edits, claiming that the consensus and wel sourced version of information on the page is a "contentious" version that they are "reverting" and that all other editors are being "Bold" and need to be reverted.

Specific edit patterns leading to the conclusion that the IP is either a sockpuppet or a meatpuppet being coached:

  1. First and second edits refer to "BLP".
  2. Third edit and more (diff1 diff2 diff3 diff4 begin to claim that they are exercising the WP:BRD process against "insertion" of material that is well sourced and that has stood for a reasonable time.
  3. Two other editors began working to handle the insertion of factually false information and they continued the insistence claiming "no consensus" even when multiple editors were working to prevent disruption and damage by the IP editor (diff1diff2)
  4. The disruptive editing continued until both pages were semiprotected, and the IP was blocked.

Similar edits by DHeyward:

  1. diff1 diff2 diff3 diff4 claiming "secret awards", misrepresenting military records policy.
  2. Repeats claims of IP sockpuppet/meatpuppet that they are "reverting" insertions by their conduct, attempting reverse portrayal of the actual situation.
  3. removes comments from talk page in manner STRIKINGLY similar to IP Sockpuppet/Meatpuppet
  4. DHeyward insults editors and makes accusations of a plot to "defame a deceased hero", very similar to talk page rants by the IP accusing people of "spitting on a corpse"...

Under the circumstances, I believe it is appropriate to ask for a check; while this may also be meatpuppetry, it could be that DHeyward signed out to hide the number of his edits. Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz (talk) 12:57, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, all the insults. DHeyward appears to have a very large axe to grind. Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz (talk) 14:12, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Bbb23: - this is not a bad faith report. The evidence is substantial. Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz (talk) 14:23, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't edit as an IP and my account will resolve to two IP's: my employer and my house. His dispute is with USA Today [1] that noted a lot of Silver Stars are awarded secretly. He is using that to defame a deceased war hero with a dubious source derived after this revelation that not all commendations show up in the central records nut exist in unit records. He does not discuss his addition nor is his LEAD addition mentioned anywhere in the article. Sorry that I can't defend two IP editors that mention BLP when I do not. Feel free to indef this SPA edit warrior. --DHeyward (talk) 13:59, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

Shortly after Doorzki was blocked for severe edit warring on Kris Kobach and Mark Levin and as a likely sockpuppet, DHeyward began to revert to Doorzki's edits.

Could I get a more experienced clerk to give a second look please? The timing of DHeyward showing up to revert seems suspicious. Morty C-137 (talk) 00:39, 7 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is beyond stupid. Who are these people as I've never interacted with either the filer or the other editor AFAIK? I haven't even bothered to check what article I reverted ut I'll look for the laugh. --DHeyward (talk) 19:53, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Aah, the other user is even blocked. Shouldn't there be a penalty for spurious accusations and aspersions? --DHeyward (talk) 20:00, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Based on DHeyward's behavior regarding Morty C-137 at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Cjhard, and the fact that Morty C-137 has known and persistent sock-puppet harassers, it may be worth investigating here. Power~enwiki (talk) 04:51, 12 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

To be more specific, the suspicious behavior is his interactions with Morty C-137 on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Cjhard; I don't suspect DHeyward of being tied to Doorzki. Power~enwiki (talk) 05:01, 12 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
What are you talking about? Morty caught my attention when someone dropped a note on my talk page. Yup, I went to all his drama page nonsense. He's a 4 month old account with at least 4 open dramas playing out. There is nothing strange about calling him out in all of them, which is what I have done. You have the chicken and the egg confused. I'd be happy never to have interacted with the troll but he decided I was a sockpuppet. It's nonsense. --DHeyward (talk) 12:19, 12 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sro23 Open until when? It's plainly obvious I am not a sockpuppet, let alone of Doorzki. --DHeyward (talk) 01:28, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This case is being reviewed by Sro23 as part of the clerk training process. Please allow them to process the entire case without interference, and pose any questions or concerns either on their Talk page or on this page if more appropriate.

  • I'm not seeing enough similarity between the two accounts. Closing for lack of sufficient evidence. Sro23 (talk) 00:32, 7 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am not an SPI clerk, but for what it's worth, I agree that the reverts alone are insufficient evidence. I can see why it looks suspicious, but DHeyward is a longstanding editor (created in 2005), and the Doorzki account is not exactly new either (created in 2012). If these were single-purpose accounts with no other edits besides these reverts, we would probably call it a WP:DUCK. However, that's not the case here: both editors have coexisted for a while now without drawing suspicion of sockpuppetry. Given this, I would need to see more evidence of interaction between these accounts or other idiosyncratic behavior (e.g. similar writing style/editing philosophies) before blocking or even recommending CheckUser in this case. • I'm closing this case with no action. The clerk who reviews this case before archiving by default will be more experienced than I am. If you think I made the wrong call, by all means feel free to re-open this. I will defer to your judgment. Sro23 (talk) 01:56, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
