@GSS-1987: I have some doubts that this is technically (though i'm not a CU, just a hunch based on writing) OPP but it's definitely an OPP recreation - in any case there is a crapload of socking on that article and several others they've created. Oh I thought it was first created in January 2017 by Gareenbarnett who is tagged as a sockpuppet of Ashishchopra778 and the same day it was posted in the draftspace by Gordjackon2 who is again tagged as a sock of Ashishchopra778. GSS (talk|c|em) 13:23, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This account actually has a shared interest in several different sock areas but I'm going off the edits/creation of Fursan (leather goods) which was created originally as FURSAN(Leather Brand) and quite a few other names (Fursan(Leathe Goods), Fursan(Leather Goods)) and the recreation of Sabah Al-Haidoos. Well this is interesting, after looking at the creator, who not only recreated Fursan, Sabah but also Marco Jones Ekamba, which was another creation by Saimon ledger, I'm not convinced this will be a technical match to this master but rather another paid editing/sock "ring", based on their tenure here and on another Wiki. GeneralizationsAreBad Funny you mention that - I was about to add some info there too. This seems like more paid editing to me (similar to what happened with the OPP/Amir/Ashish split.) and I wouldn't be surprised if this is a new set of socks given the length the current user has been on different projects.   • Mehdihefa is  Possilikely (a mix between possible and likely) to the master.
  • Miijan Simonovic and Tarsisch are editing from different schools that are nowhere near each other. Simonovic is  Possible based on geolocation to the master. Tarsisch is  Unlikely but I won't rule out meatpuppetry.
  • I'm not familiar with this sockmaster, but from what I can gather these are not sockpuppets, it's more of a paid editing/meatpuppetry type situation. Sro23 (talk) 20:30, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • I filed an SPI earlier on this -- Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Waffen77/Archive#12_July_2017 and Bbb23 found it possible --- geo-close to JibinGeorge and a UA match, I'm guessing it's one of the Kerala - Bangalore groups. Whether this is linked to a particular group or not, this is clear undisclosed paid editing, the linkage to a sock farm will only make it easier to do the clean up. Given that the user has been alerted to COI disclosure requirements, I'm inclined to do a ToS block on those grounds alone, especially given the heavy advertorial nature of contributions. I'm pinging Smartse to get a second opinion as I've probably been following this mess almost since it began and it'd be nice to have someone else decide here. —SpacemanSpiff 13:58, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A collection of single-purpose or low-edit-count users associated with Ezzeldin Tahoun and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ezzeldin Tahoun, starting with the article creator Shaalabaz (only edits: Tahoun). The IPs have Tahoun's article as their only recent edits; it has also been edited by Mehdikhan20 (new editor with some scattered edits to other subjects; also has deleted contributions to Fursan (brand) but I didn't find any connections to other editors there) and Amirdaeii (editor created last July but only activated yesterday with, again, scattered edits to other subjects). One of the IPs geolocates to McMaster University, Tahoun's home institution; another is also in Ontario while one is in Saudi Arabia (which the article suggests Tahoun may have ties to through KAU). Then, suddenly, we get four similarly-incoherent keeps on the AfD from Mehdikhan20, Amirdaeii, and two other new editors: Dave linc (only edits: new user page and four AfDs including this one) and Kurt logann (only edits: new user page and AfD). Given the activation of Amirdaeii from sleeper status, checkuser is requested to detect other sleepers. David Eppstein (talk) 17:50, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • This however appears to be another group that also crosses over into this subject as seen here. Bettersmiley was confused as being an Amirshahat sock because that group seems to have gotten into the mix.
  • Red X Unrelated to my findings above. I think that "Then, suddenly, we get four similarly-incoherent keeps on the AfD from Mehdikhan20, Amirdaeii, and two other new editors..." describes the arrival of UPE help from the sock farm that I listed above as opposed to the COI more directly held to the article subject by what is listed as the master (client?).

Not lost in the shuffle per se, it just took a very long time to resolve the other case since the holding CU has been away for some time.
