Zapatero

SqueakBox (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log) has suggested [1] that Hagiographer, currently editing José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and related articles, is a sock puppet of Zapatancas, who is banned from editing them. Tony Sidaway 09:44, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Additional information needed. Zapatero is too old to check; are there more current known socks, or records somewhere that can be used to check? Essjay (TalkConnect) 11:33, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do we have confirmation somewhere that Zapatancas = Zapatero? I mean, I get that the names are similar, but do we have an official determination, or am I on a fishing expedition? Essjay (TalkConnect) 12:24, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
User talk:Zapatero redirects to User talk:Zapatancas. He adopted the new name per username policy without actually doing name change [2] (back in May 2005). Thatcher131 12:34, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, okay. Essjay (TalkConnect) 12:37, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Red X Unrelated, as best I can tell. The closest thing to a connection is that both are using Spanish IPs. Essjay (TalkConnect) 12:44, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've been away, so I hadn't seen this. The summary asks for more info.

Both users squakbox and zapatancas have been involved in a nasty fight over a long time and it probably involves sockpuppets (based on behavior I make that assumption) both were at medcom, and have been at RFAr as well : Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/SqueakBox_and_Zapatancas

" Parties: SqueakBox (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), Zapatancas (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), and various sock puppets." " Remedies: Both parties banned from Wikipedia for one month, both banned from editing José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and related articles for one year. Both placed on personal attack parole for one year."

Zapatancas

I believe this is a User Zapatancas sockpuppet used to avoid the ban both he and I face ont his article. SqueakBox 13:17, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk note: Article in question is José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero. See also Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/SqueakBox and Zapatancas. Can you say what it is about the user's edits that make you think it is a Zapatancas sockpuppet? Thanks. Thatcher131 17:04, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He seems Spanish (and editing at a classic Zapatancas hour, long before I get up), and Zapatancas has adnmitted to being Spanish. He has been the only person who has wanted to restore the articles. His use of the edit summary to make personal statements, what could be construed as a personal attack, is very reminiscent of Zapatancas. And finally the edits were clearly a reaction to the edit comments I had put in the talk pages. My experience is that while other users dont like the fact of the conflict bewtween I and Zapatancas no-one else actually wants to engage in the conflict and suddenly this new user is engaging in the conflict with the same passion as Zapatancas did. Hagiographer had 7 edits to his name yet he managed to find these redirect articles. All of which is enough reason for this editor to arouse suspicion in my mind, especially as sockpuppetry has been an issue in the past. I also believe Zapatancas was responsible for this edit which was from 80.58.4.172, from Telefonica de España, in Madrid according to my ip locator and possibly a dial-up connection with a moving ip address. I would say if Hagiographer is editing from a similar ip to this, ie Telefonica de España, in Madrid then it is likely Zapatancas. IMO if he is Zapatancas the edits should be reverted, SqueakBox 23:38, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

no Declined. Given that the matter is related to an arbitration case, the request should be made to the Arbitration Committee, who have plenty of available checkusers and will be far better acquainted with the matter. Essjay (TalkConnect) 10:54, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Has used 2 sockpuppets SquealingPig (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) and SquealingPigAttacksAgain (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) to harrass and attack User:SqueakBox, starting within minutes of him having an argument about the way I edited his material. See User:SqueakBox/Zapateron so I would like a sockpuppet check to confirm this. Zapatancas and I are undergoing mediation at the moment so I would be very useful to clarify, SqueakBox 15:35, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edits are too far in the past to use CheckUser on. Kelly Martin (talk) 18:55, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
