Xetra80

  • Supporting evidence: There is a huge problem with sockpuppets over at the Somaliland article. The article is currently under protection. It was put that way by an administrator who is under the impression that there is an edit war between myself and another editor (a single purpose account) that first needs to be resolved. Here's how I explained the situation to the administrator:

Hi. In the rationale you provided for locking the Somaliland article in its current version, you stated on its talk page that "the recent edit history for this article is almost exclusively reversion of one editor by another." However, this is not entirely the case. What's we really going on in the Somaliland article is a series of sockpuppets and single purpose accounts continuously removing reliable sources such as this Somalia profile from the CIA World Factbook, and Somalia's Transitional Federal Government's official Charter simply because the latter two affirm the established fact that the Somaliland region is and has always been a part of Somalia. Please also note that I'm not the only editor that has reverted these POV edits; many other editors including several administrators have as well and for good reason (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9). Further, I don't see how any compromise can be reached when every single international organization and country recognizes Somaliland as simply a region in Somalia, just like the sources in the reverted version repeatedly asserted (including this UN paper) -- just how does one compromise on reality? All this to say that I can appreciate if you perhaps weren't privy to all the facts (including this WP:AN/I discussion from last month) when you chose to lock the page in its current POV version. But now that you are, kindly unlock the page so that I may restore the CIA and Somali government sources that the latest sockpuppet/single purpose account has replaced with his unsourced POV.

Despite the above and my other dif-filled posts over at the Somaliland article's discussion page and the administrator's talk page, the administrator is still reluctant to unlock the article. He says that he is still hoping a simple discussion will solve it, though we've already tried that in vain for several consecutive days now.

I need someone to run a Checkuser on the above accounts to prove to the administrator in question what I already know: that the User:Xetra80 is using sockpuppet accounts to promote his Somaliland secessionist movement.

I'm confident Xetra80 is the same person as all of the folks above because:

  • They all edit almost exclusively Somaliland-related articles, but usually just the Somaliland article itself (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12).
  • Most if not all of their edits are in the service of the Somaliland secessionist movement, and they often involve the removal of sourced material (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 10).
  • They sometimes revert for one another. That is, if someone reverts their POV changes, they log in as another account or IP and promptly revert those changes (e.g. 1, 2).
  • Most have been warned at some time or another by administrators about POV edits made to Somaliland-related articles, usually to the Somaliland article itself (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4). Two of the accounts were actually blocked for their disruptive edits, and specifically regarding the Somaliland article (1 , 2).
  • They tend to revert to the exact same or virtually the exact same edits. For example, in this edit, Xetra80 asserted that the land area occupied by the Somaliland region was 176 210 km2. He also assured me as much on the Somaliland article's talk page: "from verified source the area covers 176 210 km2". Incidentally, this 176 210 figure is the exact same unsourced land area first added by the User:Maaxdan single purpose account way back in March. Various sockpuppet accounts have since been trying to reinsert it (e.g. the 128.39.240.13 anonymous IP in this edit).
  • They all have very short contribution histories that are usually created within a very short space of time from one another (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12).
  • They tend to write the same way and level the same exact idiosyncratic charges. For example, the Xetra80 account the other day accused me of being a "Southern Somali with political motives". This is almost identical to the Igor akb80 account's declaration last month on AN/I that "Somaliland has many enemies.. the worst being South Somalis in here masquerading under objective agendas trying to ' remove ' Somaliland identity."
  • On discussion pages, they like to post very passionate diatribes on the legitimacy of Somaliland as an independent nation and the regions it therefore "controls" (e.g. 1, 2, 3), where they often attack other editors and name section headings after them. For example, the Igor akb80 account posted on October 2nd an unsigned rant titled "Regarding Objective status of Ingoman and his editing". His Xetra80 doppelganger likewise posted a thematically similar diatribe a month later (a day or two ago) titled "Dear Wiki cocontributor Middayexpress".
  • The various accounts often have similar names. For example, the Xetra80 main account I'm currently at loggerheads with just so happens to feature the same "80" suffix as the Igor akb80 account, who myself and a couple of other editors and administrators were struggling with as little as a month ago over at AN\I. The accounts in general seem to be very fond of letter name + numerical suffix-type handles (Yusufcali007, Abdiali14, Cabdi462, Somalia1960, etc.). Another example is obviously the Cabdi462/Cabdi yusuf/Yusufcali007/Abdiali14 accounts.

I think that pretty much sums it up. Can someone please run a Checkuser on the above accounts? Middayexpress (talk) 00:24, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
