Press tour

What is a "press tour"?Curb Chain (talk) 07:40, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Depends on the context in which you've read it, but it would most likely be a series of press conferences and/or interviews in different cities and/or countries, conducted by some big name or other, to promote their new work. --Viennese Waltz 07:51, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
My understanding is what Viennese Waltz seems to be saying as well. A movie gets made. The actor who stars in the movie appears on a bunch of interview shows, talk shows, radio programs, etc. to promote the new movie. This is a "press tour". It could apply to any use of existing talk/interview/news media to promote something, usually a film or book or music recording. --Jayron32 17:10, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sherlock?

In much appreciated Youtube comments, Marina and the Diamonds' single Oh No! is connected to some "Sherlock":

"this song has sherlock written all over it..."
"Let everyone from the Sherlock, Homestuck, and Once-ler fandoms unite here."

Now after having had a look at Sherlock, I'm still puzzling over it: Who/what is Sherlock? --KnightMove (talk) 12:40, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not having a clue either I did some simple googling on Marina and the Diamonds and Sherlock, and found this. Apparently someone made a fanvideo of clips from the tv-show set to that particular song, and this has apparently connected fans of the show with fans of the band. --Saddhiyama (talk) 12:58, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That is more or less correct. KariloPi (talk) 14:32, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

contradictory info re "My Old Man" Steve Goodman tribute album

Various sources cite dates ranging from October 12, 2004 [info box accompanying Wikipedia listing for "My Old Man (album)"] through Spring, 2006 as the release date for this album; most list 2005 as the year. Also, that Wikipedia info box lists Jason Mercer as the producer while Rosanna Goodman, who compiled the album, cites Chris Brown as the producer. Anyone know which info is accurate? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.167.92.175 (talk) 18:55, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"The Haunted Castle" by Georges Melies

The Wikipedia page on Georges Méliès filmography states that only fragments of his 1896 film The Haunted Castle have survived. The Wikipedia page for the film itself makes no mention of how much of the film has survived, however it lists the film's running time at three minutes. I have seen the film (here is a link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBArxsdF2rs) and three minutes of the film still survives. Is the running time listed on the film's Wikipedia page only the running time for the film as it exists now (in an incomplete state) or was the original, full film always only three minutes long and the Wikipedia page for Georges Méliès filmography is simply inaccurate when it states that only fragments of the film still survives?--Jpcase (talk) 21:46, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A day after my posting this, the editor Lazlocollins changed the page on Georges Méliès filmography to say that "The Haunted Castle" survives in its entirety. It seems to me that he is correct and I will leave the page to read as such, but if anyone has any further information on the topic, please share.--Jpcase (talk) 14:07, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

> Hi > > I would like to forward the following information to David Letterman, host of David Letterman Late Night Show but have not been able to find out a way to correspond with his company or himself. > > If you could forward this somehow, it would be greatly appreciated. > > Dear Mr. Letterman: > I have a friend that is very talented, he writes his own songs and performs them, his name is Joe Hehir, his life long dream is to appear on the David Letterman Show, we all know how difficult it is to get a career in music started.

This gentle man was recently laid off from his previous employment at a local

We are unaffiliated with Letterman, the show, its network, or its production company. The show's contact page is here. Good luck to your friend... if you ever come back to see this... Dismas|(talk) 00:53, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
