If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

- Kutub al-Sittah → The Six Books (currently a redirect back to Kutub al-Sittah) (move · discuss) – Moving the Arabic transliterated name to the English name. This is warranted as the equivalent page for the canon of Shia hadith collections is called The Four Books instead of its Arabic equivalent Kutub al-ʾArbaʿa. In addition, google searches for "The Six Books" are over 10x as common (and rising) as searches for "Kutub al-Sittah" (either way this wikipedia page is the top result). https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=Kutub+al-Sittah%2CThe+Six+Books&year_start=1800&year_end=2019&corpus=en-2019&smoothing=3 Pogenplain (talk) 04:56, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Pogenplain There were two attempts to move this in 2013 at Talk:Kutub_al-Sittah. While it's very likely that usage or opinions could've changed in the last 11 years, it would require a new discussion. Please click the "discuss" link in your request above to open a full move request. --Ahecht (TALK

- Micromeria douglasii → Clinopodium douglasii (currently a redirect back to Micromeria douglasii) (move · discuss) – Clinopodium douglasii better reflects the current taxonomic understanding of this species. This article title already exists as a redirect page to Micromeria douglasii, so page swap is required and I do not have admin rights to perform this. "Italic title" template will need to be included. I will revise and update article once the move is performed. Peter G Werner (talk) 19:16, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Peter G Werner This has been moved two times in the past so I suggest starting a requested move discussion to avoid issues. C F A 💬 00:28, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Privatisation in Pakistan → Privatization in Pakistan (currently a redirect back to Privatisation in Pakistan) (move · discuss) – WP:CONSISTENT: (Pakistan Privatization Commission, Privatization, Privatization in Azerbaijan, Privatization in the United States, Privatization in Croatia, Privatization in Slovakia) Ainty Painty (talk) 06:49, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- 2024 CrowdStrike incident → July 2024 global IT outages (currently a redirect back to 2024 CrowdStrike incident) (move · discuss) – This issue is being very commonly cited as a "global IT outage" in the media and by the general public, and this is an accurate description of the issue. The cause being CrowdStrike doesn't necessarily need to be in the title, and 'incident' isn't very descriptive. 'Outages' is far more accurate and recognisable given the effect that the 'CrowdStrike incident' had on the world. Luminism (talk) 12:57, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Luminism As this is a very recent ongoing event, it's impossible at this point to say what the WP:COMMONNAME is or will be. I would recommend opening a move request on teh talk page by clicking the "discuss" link in your request above. --Ahecht (TALK

- JR Ritchie → J. R. Ritchie (currently a redirect back to JR Ritchie) (move · discuss) – This should be moved per MOS:INITS but it's occupied by a redirect and I don't know how to overcome that. Dennis C. Abrams (talk) 13:33, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Denniscabrams Per MOS:BIOEXCEPT an overwhelming majority of sources use "JR", as it's short for "Junior" not an initialism. --Ahecht (TALK

- Gray Television → Gray Media (move · discuss) – New trade name per press release [1] Mvcg66b3r (talk) 05:29, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Support: Yep, the offical website of Gray Television/Media even calls it Gray Media. mer764KCTV5 / Cospaw the Wolfo (He/Him | t • c) 13:13, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- FYI, per WP:NAMECHANGES we don't just take new names directly from the source (so this press release & the official site aren't sufficient), we use the common name, but I did find a source that appears to use the new name (which is what we do need to see): 1, my only issue is that it's effectively a reprint of the press release, and I'm not seeing a lot of other coverage indicating a change in common name. - @Mvcg66b3r Why did you submit this as a technical request? You are autoconfirmed and neither title is move protected, and this page is only for when you are
unable to complete a move for technical reasons
. If you want to open a move discussion, you can do so by following the instructions at WP:PCM. --Ahecht (TALK

- @Mvcg66b3r Moved to contested due to common name issue & fact that it can be moved by the requester. I won't dispute this if you move it yourself, but if somebody reverts it, you will need to open a move discussion. Thanks! ASUKITE 15:44, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
