  • Image is uploaded as "Creative Commons Attribution 3.0" and uploader is claiming they are the original copyright holder. Unless the uploader is Joe Papin himself, then I am not sure they can release the image in this way. Image also appears to have been published in a newspaper, etc. which might mean that the copyright is not entirely held by the creator of the image. Would appreciate any clarification from other editors about this. Marchjuly (talk) 07:51, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • I do own the originals but uploaded a copy that did appear in the press. I would like to remove but have not discovered the proper way to do this yet. Thank you.Jrptwins (talk) 17:24, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
      • Thank you for the clarification Jrptwins. Since it says the cartoon was drawn by Joe Papin, and he died in 1992 (according to Draft:Joseph W. Papin), I think it's fair to assume that you are not Papin himself, but someone connected to him. Perhaps you represent his estate? Either way, I believe the image is still under copyright since 50 years have not passed since Papin's death. If you hold the copyright, then you can donate the image to Wikipedia if you like, but this means you are agreeing to license the image freely to Wikipedia and anyone who uses Wikipedia. In a sense, it means you agree to allow anyone to download the image from Wikipedia and use it pretty much any way they like. You are free to do this as long as you are the copyright holder of the image. In some cases, an email in which you explicitly consent to release the image for free is required to be sent to Wikipedia for verification purposes. If, by chance, this type of licensing is not exactly what you want, then it might be a good idea to ask about this at WP:OTRSN. These editors have lots of experience with the licensing of copyright material and they will not only be able to answer your specific questions, but also remove the image if you want. - Marchjuly (talk) 00:19, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Erroneous Nomination. When following the listing instructions (step 2), you need to replace "File_name.ext" with the actual name of the file. You'll also want to put your reason for deletion just after "reason=". Feel free to just replace this entire section with the corrected template. If you are still having trouble, ask for help at WT:PUF or at my talk page. AnomieBOT 18:07, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
