Unfortunately there is inadequate information provided in the description of these images to verify the claim that they are in the public domain. They are sourced to a book published in 1994. There is no evidence that these images were previously published prior to 1923, and several of the maps actually show routes that are post 1923. See discussion at MCQ. The two logo images (File:CGNWlogocornbelt.jpg and File:ADrailwaylogo.jpg) might survive deletion by changing their license to {{PD-textlogo}}. —RP88 (talk) 07:08, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep the logos. I find it very unlikely that a logo for a historic company wouldn't have been published when the company was operating. They can probably be listed under {{PD-textlogo}} anyway. According to Commons:COM:HIRTLE, anything published for the first time in 1994 is copyrighted in the United States (unless it was first published in Iran, Afghanistan or a handful other countries, which clearly isn't the case here). We therefore need evidence of prior publication of the maps. --Stefan2 (talk) 15:25, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • The images have been partially retagged with fair use rationales but still have PD licence tags. Can someone please fix this? Stifle (talk) 16:58, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Delete the performance is PD but the work is not and will not be PD in the US until the composers death +70 years. Can be restored if consent of the composer is obtained. Deleted by Nthep (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA)

  • There is not a featured sound recording of a Central American national anthem as currently stated so please remove that notice. However I do not wish this file deleted as the copyright status of this file clearly states

The composer's of Croatia's anthem have been dead long enough that their works are in the public domain. —RP88 (talk) 08:50, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
                • So if I am unable to get permission from the composer the file will be removed? No other way around this? Is this the only way for newly independent countries to obtain anthem on wikipedia? --BiHVolim (talk) 00:00, 15 November 2013
                  • Hi, I have been contacted by Adam G. of Chief Musician, U.S. Navy Public Affairs who said: "Our performance of national anthems are public domain, and be used as you see fit. Please note, however, the anthems can change frequently, so please visit our website to ensure you have the latest version." I can forward you their email. I think this is as best as I can here. Please do not delete the anthem. Thank you very much. --BiHVolim (talk) 00:00, 24 November 2013
                    • There is indeed no copyright on performances by the US governments as {{PD-USGov}} provides for that, but this is unrelated to the copyright issues with the underlying song. Both the song and the performance need to be in the public domain, and the song is not. --Stefan2 (talk) 00:00, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • This image file is believed to have been uploaded without authorization from the copyright holder. 69.174.58.28 (talk) 16:37, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't believe that idea. It looks as if this was uploaded by the copyright holder, due to the user name. What we need is proof, such as via OTRS. It is also close to PD-Simple. Also note that a reduced resolution was supplied, which would not be typical of the normal copyright violator round here. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:15, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Please provide further information regarding what type of "proof, such as via OTRS" is needed. How can one submit such proof? Via email to oversight-en-wp@wikipedia.org? The copyright holder is a company, but only human persons can create user names and upload images. Your statement "It looks as if this was uploaded by the copyright holder" does not negate that the company and its management did not authorize the upload. It is also not PD-Simple, which is described as "not a logo" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:PD-simple). The copyright holder's logo appears within the "O" in the word "BINGO." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.174.58.28 (talk) 23:38, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • well if it was not indeed uploaded by a company representative then it should be deleted, but if it was, follow the procedure at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Which says to send the email granting the claimed license from the company address to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:35, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for following up. You provide a link for the procedure to donate copyrighted materials, but what is the procedure for contesting a "donation" of copyrighted materials by someone other than the copyright owner? That link you provided describes this exact situation when it says "You cannot donate what someone else owns." How can we fix that problem after the unauthorized "donation" took place? Thank you again for your assistance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.174.58.28 (talk) 15:50, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
