Wikipedia:WikiProject British Bicycle racing

Wikipedia:WikiProject British Bicycle racing (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Only used by one user, and considering Wikipedia:WikiProject Cycling is a relatively small project, I can't see the need for this. BaldBoris 18:10, 18 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@SmokeyJoe: Merge what exactly? There's nothing apart from a few incomplete lists. It can't really be considered a project, no talk, no members. Not sure what good would come from a discussion, it's not as if they discussed the creation of it? I think they had good intentions, but the fact it hasn't been used for over two years says it all. You did well to raise it at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Cycling#WikiProject_British_Bicycle_racing. You may be noticing that WikiProjects have reached their senescence. They were strong in the explosive, exponential growth period of Wikipedia, when teams of editors were simultaneously building the same topics. It ended years ago. However, this is a reason for tidying by archiving or redirecting. Deleting records, including records of failed or weak ideas, is rarely a good idea. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 23:37, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I do agree with your last point, but that isn't present in this case. Everything in this WikiProject is available in categories. So it's just a page of incomplete lists that have no place at WikiProject Cycling. I'm probably one of the most active users editing "British Bicycle racing" articles, so don't get me wrong. I would love for this to be an active and be used, but it's not, never has and never will be. I'm just doing the cleaning up... BaldBoris 00:56, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Redirect it to the most useful place that someone wanting to work on British Bicycle racing would be well advised to go to. I suggest Wikipedia:WikiProject Cycling. If there is nothing worth merging, then just redirect. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 03:39, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per SmokeyJoe. No matter how small the larger project is, there are times where a taskforce can be a source of focus. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 03:51, 24 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Ricky81682: Like I said above, it's not really a project and I'm 100% sure it'll never be one. BaldBoris 14:39, 24 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I do not see any need in deleting this project. --Nicola (talk) 15:08, 24 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
OK, but can you explain why it should be kept then please? BaldBoris 00:58, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Deleting a past bad idea dooms others to repeat it. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 03:43, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's mangled but could become a project. Even if inactive right now, someone later could show interest in it and expand it. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 03:03, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
