The result of the discussion was keep. I'd need to see much stronger arguments than this to delete a WikiProject that anyone is still active on. --BDD (talk) 04:43, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:WikiProject Beauty Pageants

Wikipedia:WikiProject Beauty Pageants (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

This whole project has been dead for years after all the sockpuppets of the pageant company were all banned. There is far too much promotional stuff for models that fail WP:NMODEL and scads of links built for the promoters already. Legacypac (talk) 10:31, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom, and make sure all the subpages if any are zapped too. Was mainly only ever used by sockpuppets, has almost no current activity or discussion worth preserving. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 04:47, 21 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy Keep as an active member of this WikiProject. I use this project frequently, as it's very useful for sorting, categorizing, and monitoring pageant-related articles. I can't speak firsthand for other countries, but, in the United States, most beauty pageant contestants are not models, so WP:NMODEL is irrelevant here. By very definition a pageant is a form of modeling. Can you explain the massive proliferation of articles that fail WP:BLP? NMODEL is more then just models - it says:

Entertainers Actors, voice actors, comedians, opinion makers, models, and celebrities:

  1. Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions.
  2. Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following.
  3. Has made unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment.

If these articles don't fall under that guideline - what do you think the fall under Ejgreen77 ? Legacypac (talk) 07:11, 21 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

To my knowledge, there are no guidelines specifically related to pageantry, therefore they fall under WP:GNG, just like everything else does. Like I said, in the US, at least, most beauty pageant contestants are not professional models (most pageant contestants in the US are college students), nor will they ever become professional models, so the WP:NMODEL guideline really isn't applicable here.
