Portal:Three Kingdoms

Portal:Three Kingdoms (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Rising moon over Mt. Nanping (Nanpiezan shogetsu)

Narrow scope old portal covering only 60 years of Chinese history and featuring only the three kingdoms for the featured articles. Adds nothing to the head article. Legacypac (talk) 19:43, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Delete without prejudice against a proper recreation, the topic may be able to support a portal, but this portal does not add value. Tazerdadog (talk) 22:10, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. I think this is an obvious deletion but not for the reason the nominator suggests. The head article (B/C class) is tagged as top importance by WP China & there's a specific Wikiproject with over a thousand tagged articles, 250 of which are at least B class. The novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms is very well known. The head articles does have a couple of orange-level tags, but they are "needs more citations" in specific limited sections and could be fixed. On closer inspection, though, the history here is a bit odd; it looks as if The Transhumanist started this portal from a redirect, which for some reason was then pointing to Portal (Magic: The Gathering), but earlier pointed to Portal Three Kingdoms, which is a game inspired by Romance of the Three Kingdoms; so unless I'm missing something, this is a new portal started by The Transhumanist and covered by the consensus about their auto-portals. • Delete as specified by User:Espresso Addict, although they haven't !voted, only said how they will !vote. The above illustrates the difference between the use of 'Portal' as a magic word and 'Portal' as a name for a game about magic. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:49, 23 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - Old portal, 0 subpages, created 2005-09-24 00:58:06 by User:CesarB. A comment by a maintainer, if any, could make the day. Portal:Three Kingdoms. Pldx1 (talk) 21:43, 23 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at the page history, I didn't create that portal; that first commit is me moving a non-portal page to outside the portal namespace (matching revision on the other side of the move; it seems there was later a page history merge, so the diff to the previous revision is bogus). The portal proper was created three revisions later by The Transhumanist (talk · contribs) on 2018-12-28 cesarb (talk) 23:52, 23 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete this portal as a TTH fork of a single navbox. Nevertheless, we need 500 articles and a portal on such a broad topic. See [moonweb] about Taiso Yoshitoshi, as well as [Incheon's Chinatown] about the 77 murals in 삼국지연의 road, as well as... this is so broad a topic. Hey, Lü Bu, wake up ! • Delete. Narrow scope, which fails the WP:POG guidance that portals should be about "broad subject areas, which are likely to attract large numbers of interested readers and portal maintainers".
Also a WP:REDUNDANTFORK of the navbox Template:Three Kingdoms, which is the sole source of its "selected articles" list. (For a full explanation of why this type of portal is redundant, see the two mass deletions of similar portals: one, and two, where there was overwhelming consensus of a very high turnout to delete a total of 2,555 such portals). --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 23:24, 24 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
