Portal:Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya

Portal:Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

There are hundreds of these schools in india and a whole bunch in the nav box at the bottom of the portal, but when I spot checked a dozen or so most of the pages are stubs or start class. They mostly have maintenance tags and are largely cookie cutter made pages with details of one school swapped in for the details of the next. While there are a ton of articles there just is a lack of quality content to feature, plus the content is unsurprisingly repetitive as there is only so much you can say about how one high school working on the same model in the same country differs from the next school just like it. Featured articles are just a bunch of random school page leads. The photos could be any basketball court or playground in one of many schools. Perhaps if you have never seen a playground this image selection would enlighten you? I'm not seeing value to the reader here over the head article and the list article. No reader is going to be interested in exploring stubs and start class articles on random Indian schools, which is really the main functionality of this portal. Also the creator has 138 edits total so seems unlikely to continue doing something with this portal which was only created Nov 5, 2018. Legacypac (talk) 06:23, 23 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, as an affirmative action. From Wikipedia: Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are a system of alternate schools for gifted students in India. They are run by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti [...] Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. [...] JNVs are specifically tasked with finding talented children in rural areas of India and providing them with an education equivalent to the best residential school system, without regard to their families' socio-economic condition. I don't know if this article is true™ or only promotional, but ignorantia non est argumentum. Pldx1 (talk) 09:06, 23 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - The purpose of this portal appears to be a soapbox. Concur with comments by LP. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:18, 23 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. This automated portal draws it as article list solely from a single navbox {{Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya}}, of which it is therefore a WP:REDUNDANTFORK — just like each of the 2,555 portals deleted with overwhelming support at mass nominations one and two.
I agree with Pldx1 that it all sounds like a great idea and a wonderful scheme, but NPOV please. Personal approval or disapproval should should not be a factor in a deletion decision. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:47, 24 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • This as was not intended to say "keep because Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayais is an affirmative action", but "let us commit an affirmative action by ourselves and keep this portal, at least until the Last Judgment of the Portals". After all, Ignore All Rules is also a rule (to be used with sparsity, yes, surely). Pldx1 (talk) 07:37, 24 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
