Just deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Traffic Ramasamy (film) and the title is fully SALted as in I can't even request it be deleted to make way for the draft. If this page is going to be approved it needs to pass a discussion to overturn the AfD. Legacypac (talk) 23:13, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- Redirect to S. A. Chandrasekhar, per the AfD. That AfD is a soft AfD discussion. User:Atlantic306's 20:19, 2 June 2018, !vote was in support of allowing drafting, and this !vote was unchallenged. User:TonyBallioni's salting (sic) was done with a misleading summary, there is no discussion of protection in that AfD. The mainspace title is not WP:SALTed, it is WP:FULL protected as a redirect. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 23:44, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- Re-ping User:Atlantic306. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 23:45, 25 June 2018 (UTC)

- Keep and anticipate mainspacing. This draft is less than a day old, created by an
moderatelyexperienced Wikipedian, four days after the films release. It is probably unrelated to the deleted mainspace version, which I can't see, but it looks a quite proper draft and there are many sources containing commentary. It meets the GNG, and needs just a little more work. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 01:00, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- The film was released a few days ago, and there are new sources post-release. This actually overcomes the reasons for deletion at AfD. There was not protection rationale voiced at the AfD. This draft should be kept, with a view to rapid mainspacing. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 23:56, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
- eg "the film is a huge disappointment"[1]. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 00:02, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- It was done to enforce the AfD outcome, and this is a normal use of protection that is certainly covered by the intent of WP:SALT. I will not be lifting it until the concerns of the AfD are addressed. TonyBallioni (talk) 00:10, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- TonyBallioni, no it's not, or if it is a new practice, it needs checking. I see no history of multiple deletions andrecreations in the logs, and the AfD was leaning soft, no mention of protection, let along salting. Circumstances have changed, the AfD nomination rationale no longer applies, and there are new sources post-release. Please unprotect the redirect. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 00:15, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

- Unprotected for entirely unrelated reasons: it was created by a good faith user with over 15,000 edits. Abishe, if in the future you want to create a page that is salted, just talk to the protecting admin. I would have been happy to lift this for you . Saves everyone a bunch of time. - Speedy Keep, as in an MFD was and is the wrong way to challenge the AFD. An MFD is not a vehicle to challenge an AFD. That is what deletion review is for. This was a misguided exercise in MFD. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:13, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- Not sure you have this straight. Legacypac presumably responded to the salting (sic) of the article by MfD-ing the corresponding draft, which is normal; the MfD was a natural consequence of the AfD and WP:FULL. I noted new sources post-AfD, and that the film was released post-AfD, four days ago, and in passing questioned the WP:FULL protection of the redirect, which rubbed the Tony. Less than ideal communication all over the place, apologies for mine, but everyone doing something with good intention. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 02:35, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
I found a draft where the title was just deleted and salted. Hence the discussion. I'm not set on deletion if MfD finds it notable or someone that can overcome the salting wants to promote it. I note the comments on the SALTing that this is part of a promotional effort. Legacypac (talk) 03:36, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- There was a recreation of the deleted material by an IP, after the "delete and redirect" AfD decision. I think this was not associated with the author of the draft being discussed here. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 04:37, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- Comment As a pity experienced editor I just attempted to create article about the film, Traffic Ramasamy which I felt that the film would gain popularity and enough notability at least after its theatrical release. This isn't my first film article and I have created few film & television related articles including Bigg Boss Tamil 2, Asuravadham, Abrahaminte Santhathikal, Njan Marykutty, Komaali Kings, Kallai FM, Paadam etc. But I am not only focusing on WikiProject Film but I contribute to other WikiProjects including WikiProject Squash, Women in Red project etc. If you think my decision on my attempts in creating this article as an offence, I will withdraw myself from the AFC submission. Thanks. Abishe (talk) 08:57, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- Absolutely not Abishe. We got ourselves excited because of a previous problem version, you however did it perfectly right. Please finish the draft and move it to mainspace. Would you, like some help? —SmokeyJoe (talk) 10:34, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
@SmokeyJoe: Will it be okay if I move this draft page to the mainspace? Are you sure on this. I hope that you have recognised my efforts for creating this draft page. But I didn't know the actual reason why the title Traffic Ramasamy (film) was protected from recreating it again. Is it due to the misunderstanding or anything else? I still want to verify from you whether I can be eligible to move this draft into article mainspace. Thank you. Abishe (talk) 11:07, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- Abishe, because the topic has become involved in this formal discussion, it is best to wait for this discussion to be closed. Everything we say here should be read as an expression of opinion for the closing admin to consider. It is my opinion that your draft should be moved to mainspace. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 00:44, 28 June 2018 (UTC)
- Keep as the salting has been lifted so this can be moved there if it is accepted, also it has been released so it satisfies one of the delete voters now, Legacypac can now accept it and move it if he wishes Atlantic306 (talk) 12:34, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
The redirect remains in place so it can't be moved without an Admin deleting the redirect. Legacypac (talk) 14:47, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- Keep A majority of those expressing a view at the AfD discussion favored retaining thsi as a draft if it was deleted or redirected. Salting or any form of protection was not authorized by the AfD. Frankly the AfD close seems dubious to me, but let the draft be developed until the film is released, and then it may or may not be suitable for the main article space. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 19:07, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
- The redirect now has no special protection. It can be tagged for G6 speedy deletion when and if this draft is ready to move to mainspace, or any admin can move the draft directly over the redir when it is approved. I think that someone with the FileMover right could do this also, but I'm not sure. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 19:15, 26 June 2018 (UTC)
