<-Wikipedia:Map data/Ōkataina Caldera Old volcanics, non Ōkataina Volcanic Centre, volcanics, and sedimentary deposits are not shown to minimise complexity. Some data on distribution and volcanic rock type was cross checked against NZ 1:250K Geological GNS science. The ages were cross checked against the recalibrations in the literature and ultimately the most recent review sources of Lowes group were accepted. These are:

Technical Note

The map overhead is about 0.5 seconds, but if multiple maps rendered on same page you could approach 10 second limit. Once rendered Wikipedia serves up an image file of the map which is much faster but can lose detail. Detail is always revealed by clicking on the map.

Key

Ōkataina deposits in the years after the Rotoiti eruption with darker shading of violet for more recent. Clicking on the map enlarges it, and enables panning and mouseover of name/wikilink and ages before present. Key for the volcanics is:
basalt   dacite   rhyolite / ignimbrite  Definite vents.

Ōkataina Volcanic Centre with its embayments
postulated sub calderas of Cole et al. 2009 onwards
