File:Current Photo of Joey Manahan (2020).jpeg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by ShirleyAnnTemplo (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

I see no indication that this image is freely licensed or has permission for use. It was deleted from Commons a couple weeks ago for lacking a license. ShirleyAnnTemplo, who uploaded the image, appears to have a conflict of interest with the subject. (talk) 19:59, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, orphaned with questionable licensing. Salavat (talk) 07:37, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete unless its licensing and the copyright holder's WP:CONSENT can be verified by c:COM:OTRS or by providing a link to some website showing the photo has been released under an acceptable free license. You could tag the file with {{npd}} if you want, but maybe just letting the uploader know with a user talk page post would also work. Since this subject of the photo is still living, there's really no way for this to be converted to non-free content per WP:NFCC#1. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:45, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • Just going to add that this is quite similar to a photo the same editor keeps trying to upload to Commons. The Commons file has been deleted at least twice, and the latest version uploaded as File:Manahan.jpg will almost surely end up deleted as well. The upload to Commons appears to be a professional image as shown here. So, perhaps this image was taken by the same photographer with only a different background or perhaps the Hawaiian flag background was added after the fact. Either way, I don't think we can take the uploader on their word given the fact that they've had multiple images deleted from Commons as copyvios. Once again, I think the only way this can be kept is if it's OTRS verified. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:44, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: no consensus. It has not been established that WP:NFCC#8 is met by this usage. Stifle (talk) 13:05, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File:NBL Logo Australia (2006).png (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Giacontigers (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).
Non-free use in 2005–06 NBL season, 2006–07 NBL season and 2008–09 NBL season. This appears to be the non-free logo used by the National Basketball League (Australia) for a few years back in the 2000s. The type of non-free use in the main infoboxes or at the top of individual season articles is pretty much never allowed per WP:NFCC#3, WP:NFCC#8 and items 14 and 17 of WP:NFC#UUI when it's primary purpose in simply to show the logo. In such cases, season specific logos (e.g anniversary/commemorative season logos) are often allowed instead, but the default is not to simply keep reusing the same primary/parent logo when no season specific logo exists. In some cases, when a sports organization changes its branding (e.g. logo), the now-former logo can sometimes be used in the primary Wikipedia article about the organization in a section about the logo or the team's marketing and the changes such things have undergone over the years if there is specific sourced critical commentary about the change in logo as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-4, but I'm not seeing any of that type of content in "National Basketball League (Australia)". Such logos might also be OK to use for identification purposes in individual season articles about the first season when the logo was first introduced since it's in such an article where content about the logo change would seem to fit best. This might make the file's non-free use in "2005–06 NBL season" at a minimum acceptable, but it would be much better if content about the logo change could be found and added to that article. Even in that case, however, the logos use in the two other season articles would still not meet the WP:NFCCP. Suggest removing the logo from the "2006–07 NBL season and "2008–09 NBL season" articles, and a possible keep for the "2005–06 NBL season" if sourced critical commentary about the logo change can be found and added.
For reference, no logo is being used for the 2004–05 NBL season and File:NBL Hummer (2008).png is being used for the 2007–08 NBL season. So, it seems that the logo change took place after the 2004-05 season and that the 2007-08 season might've been one time sponsorship deal between the NBL and Hummer. The league appears to have changed its logo again after the 2009–10 NBL season.
Finally, this same file was actually being used in all three season articles as File:NBL Logo Australia (2004–2009).png. After it was removed from two of the articles for lacking proper non-free use rationales per WP:NFCC#10c and WP:NFCCE by JJMC89 bot, it was re-added again to those articles by the uploader. After it was removed again from those two articles, the uploader then re-uploaded the same file under different names (File:NBL Logo Australia (2006).png and File:NBL Logo Australia (2007).png) and then added these new files to the other two season articles. These additional files, however, were deleted per WP:CSD#F1 as redundant non-free files by Fastily per this discussion. Fastily then added the rationales from the deleted files to this file's page as part of the post-deletion cleanup and suggested that further discussion about the file's non-free use take place here at FFD. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:20, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The reason I removed File:NBL Logo Australia (2006).png was because I made a mistake. I was not aware of the fair use rule at that time. I made duplicates of the logo because I thought at the time you were allowed to do that for each article but was also a mistake. This logo was originally for 2008-09 NBL season infobox page. It is so the readers could identify the article and understand that the NBL had no sponsorship deal for 2008-09 NBL season. I deeply apologise for this inconvenience and my mistakes because I am still learning how to use Wikipedia appropriately.
If anyone sees my message can you please help me upload File:NBL Logo Australia (2006).png for just 2008-09 NBL season.
If we can’t recover this image I understand because it goes against fair use images. Fine if the image has to be deleted. But I need help, thank you.

If all you want to do is to change the name of the file, then you don’t re-upload the same file again per WP:FFU#Logo for 2008-09 NBL season page; you could just request a file name change as explained in WP:FILEMOVER by using Template:Rename media. Another possibility might be to upload the front page of the season’s media guide and use that it the infobox of the individual season article. As long as the media guide cover isn’t the same for each season, it might be possible to upload those images instead of trying to use the same logo over and over again. — Marchjuly (talk) 00:52, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the logo source I got from the NBL Media Guide. It is on the front page bottom left corner. 2007/08 NBL Media Guide. I requested in the logos files description to change the name to NBL Logo (2009) because it is only for 2008-09 NBL season infobox.

Is it possible to end the discussion of logo File:NBL Logo Australia (2006).png. I’m unsure if this logo was going to be taken down or is it staying on the page?
The logo has been displayed on the 2008-09 NBL season page for some quite time now. It is the proper logo for that page and is the main logo the NBL used during that time period.
I suggest leaving the logo and ending this discussion if possible please.
King regards,
