The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of the media below. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the media's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the discussion was: Deleted - the images are not freely licenced and fail both NFCC#3a (as excessive use of free content) and NFCC#8 (they do not significantly add to reader's understanding. Note that a similar image has just been deleted on commons and moved here as it was deemed as copyrightable - Peripitus (Talk) 12:14, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File:BlueMetroCard.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by EddieSegoura (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log)

Violates WP:NFCC#3 and WP:NFCC#8. The image of a MetroCard's face is already found in the article. We don't need additional images to tell the reader that other types of MetroCards exist. RJaguar3 | u | t 01:57, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: Are these images non-free? Seems to me they consist of words alone and simple geometric shapes. {{PD-text}} perhaps? Codename Lisa (talk) 18:58, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • I think they all are. I point to (1) the large number of elements combined on the card, which may meet TOO, (2) the shadow effect of the letters on the first three images, and (3) the gradient in the background on the last image. RJaguar3 | u | t 23:16, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep all of the images: There is nothing wrong to tell the readers there is multiple types of MetroCards. The Metrocard has many types of use. BWCNY (talk) 17:59, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete provided that the images meet the threshold of originality. They are not critically discussed, and there are too many of them, so they violate both WP:NFCC#3a and WP:NFCC#8. However, it should also be determined whether they meet the threshold of originality. --Stefan2 (talk) 13:33, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per, User:BWCNY. Each image serves as evidence of the variety of MetroCards both past and present. I also agree with Codename Lisa that with merely words and shapes, they're not really that much of a copyright violation. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 19:40, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fails WP:NFCC#1, as a file select dialog in Linux would serve the same purpose. RJaguar3 | u | t 02:08, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File:Kimbasimba.JPG (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by PlatformerMastah (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

The image on the right has been altered from this screenshot. You can see it has been flipped horizontally and drastically cropped. This misleads the viewer about the subject. Without going on rant, the point of this picture was to show similarities between Kimba and The Lion King. The comparison falls flat when the images are not equally acquired. I can't vouch for the authenticity of the image of the left, but it wouldn't be a stretch to assume it was altered in a similar way, as this file was originally taken from a bias fan website, no longer online  Noahcs  (Talk) 04:21, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure why it is listed as unfree, but it isn't used anywhere, so it doesn't look useful to keep. Stefan2 (talk) 09:20, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Undated media, making it difficult to verfiy the license given. Permission claim seemingly made, but no visible OTRS confirmation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:01, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I uploaded the file as user MoreThings. I'll try to send through the permission. 80.174.78.120 (talk) 13:14, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • There is no evidence that the photographer either is unknown or dead since at least 70 years, as required by the template. Unless this can be verified, the image should be deleted. --Stefan2 (talk) 18:28, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This non-free splash screen image fails to comply with WP:NFCC because its inclusion does not increase the reader's understanding of the article. Words alone are enough to describe it. A screenshot is preferred. Codename Lisa (talk) 14:52, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
