The result of the discussion was: rename. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 12:09, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:NONDEF, although I suggest renaming the target to Category:Fiction by scientific theme immediately before the merge to remain consistent. A couple subcategories will have to be removed, namely "Fictional science" and "Fictional scientists", and all its articles should be sub-categorized as it will become a container category. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 13:21, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: manual merge. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 12:12, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: This category is not defining and the other category is. There is an overlap and the categories should be merged. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 10:58, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
no longer relevant

You are right, I must have been looking at the target category yesterday. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:21, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support as the intention of the two categories is the same (or at least strongly overlaps) and the target is phrased more clearly as based on a defining characteristic. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:23, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. I see big differences here. Military fiction is a specific genre of fiction about the military. Military in fiction is a collection of articles that happen to be about someone or something fictional and vaguely military. The former is a genuine category for a genuine real-world thing. The latter is a catch-all for categories many of which should probably not even exist (although some could certainly be merged to the former category). I think merging them all does a big disservice to the military fiction category. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:02, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Mass media in Dagestan

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Culture of Dagestan. (non-admin closure) JBchrch talk 13:43, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: merge, redundant category layer with only one subcategory. Note that none of the other Russian federal subjects have a mass media category, which makes sense because Category:Mass media in Russia hardly contains any regional articles. Category:Danish Noir writers

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Nordic Noir writers. (non-admin closure)Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 23:05, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: merge, the genre is Nordic noir, not Danish noir or Norwegian Noir, and there is currently no reason to diffuse the tree by nationality. (That used to be different in the past, with lots of articles about detective writers added to the categories per WP:OR, see this earlier nomination.)
