Nightingales: The Army Nurse Corps in World War II, includes special thanks for her contributions to the book, Serving Our Country: Japanese American Women in the Military During World War II, provides secondary context for her service, starting at p. 139. Burns in The Story of Black Military Officers, 1861-1948, she is described as an African-American woman serving with distinction at p. 123 in The Columbia Guide to African American History Since 1939, her Veterans' History Project of the Library of Congress Interview Transcript is cited in the Bibliography of Double Victory: How African American Women Broke Race and Gender Barriers to Help Win World War II, and she is mentioned in context for leading a recruitment effort in Recruiter Journal: Volume 47.
