Keep -- per WP:PROF#C5 -- the holding of a named chair at a major institution is notable in itself. The Dance dept. at UM is a major department in the field. -- Michael Scott Cuthbert (talk) 03:49, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Keep. As well as the news pieces already cited in the article, his performances have been reviewed multiple times in the New York Times: May 1978 Oct 1979 Oct 1980 Nov. 1981 Jun 1986 Oct 1996 (not counting additional brief announcements).
