Doesn't meet the WP:SOLDIER SNG, as the MVC is a second tier award and this is a single award, only the Indian government website is reliable and has little more information than his name and the citation. Can't find any other reliable sources for anything other than the citation and bare details of name and rank. It therefore doesn't meet WP:GNG and should be deleted. • Keep - The subject played a historically significant role in the Nathu La and Cho La clashes. He is, for example, a significant character in a movie on this topic. Most recent Maha Vir Chakra recipients have articles. Be careful of WP:RECENTISM. ~Kvng (talk) 16:20, 28 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

• Then he should be mentioned in those articles, it doesn't justify a separate article on him. This isn't about recentism at all. It is about our well-tested SNG on military bios (WP:SOLDIER) and the GNG. What reliable sources have you located that provide significant coverage of this individual's life? The recent creation of articles on single MVC recipients is unencyclopedic, it is a second tier award, and per WP:SOLDIER only multiple recipients should have articles unless they clearly meet the GNG (there are only six of them, as opposed to 218 total MVC awards). This is a long-established bar right across military bios. We would not, for example, have an article on every recipient of the British DSO for gallantry (which is the equivalent in the British system). There have been over 16,000 DSOs awarded. • Ah, no. The first one is from the Indian Ministry of Defence, and provides little more than his name, where he was born, and a brief para about his MVC action. It is the only one of these four that seems reliable, I'm not sure what makes it scholarly, and it doesn't contain significant coverage of this guy. The second one is some sort of travelogue (it isn't at all scholarly) and is talking about a different guy anyway. The third one is a youth blog (not RS), and the fourth one is a website called Gazab hai, which doesn't look reliable to me. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 07:32, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

• Redirect to Nathu La and Cho La clashes, there's mention of his role in the conflict (India Times), and he is mentioned in a list there. I'd agree with Peacemaker's analysis, second-level recipients are largely not-notable unless they clearly meet GNG, which he doesn't seem to do. The best coverage is in Stories of Heroism, but it doesn't distinguish him from the other MVC recipients listed in the book as particularly notable. The best case for his notability is for NSOLDIER #4, but it doesn't seem that there's enough to say about him for a stand-alone article. Best, Eddie891 ^Talk _Work 15:57, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

• Comment OK, I've removed all the unreliable sources and the information sourced from them (including the puffery in the description of his actions), and retained the two reliable sources and put as much information as is available from them in the article. It is my view that this is pretty much all that is going to be available on this chap, and there still isn't enough about his life to meet the GNG, he really is a WP:BIO1E example, and as it says "The general rule is to cover the event, not the person".
