- Delete does not meet our inclusion criteria for military personnel.John Pack Lambert (talk) 15:17, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Delete per nom. A Silver Star[1] doesn't satisfy SOLDIER. Clarityfiend (talk) 00:11, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
- Keep According to WP:SOLDIER "In general, an individual is presumed to be notable if.....Played an important role in a significant military event such as a major battle or campaign". The page Byron P. Howlett claims "he personally oversaw the extraction operation, including piloting the helicopter that finally extracted the men from the Dustoff 65 crew and the original wounded from the 101st Airborne Division." Next, take a look at the comments and reasons for keeping the page titled Dustoff 65. A 175-page book was written on the subject titled [Under Fire: The Story of DUST OFF in Vietnam] which claims "It is almost impossible to capture, in a single word, the enormous impact Dustoff had on the Vietnam War." For these reasons, the page should stay and be expanded with additional information. Boston1775 (talk) 01:19, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
- The Rescue of Dustoff 65 was not "a significant military event such as a major battle or campaign" which is why I also put it up for AFD. Mztourist (talk) 04:27, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
- Delete. Mid-ranking officer with a single third-level gallantry decoration. Not notable per WP:SOLDIER, WP:ANYBIO or WP:GNG. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:01, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
- Merge - Responding to Mztourist -- Please see my updated comments on recommendation for deletion of Dustoff 65. Operation Dustoff was a major operation. Bryan P. Howlett played a significant role in that operation. Suggestion is for changing "Rescue of Dustoff 65" to "Operation Dustoff" and merging page of "Bryan P. Howlett" with the new page titled "Operation Dustoff". This should hopefully satisfy everyone and preserve significant and notable information regarding the Vietnam War. Boston1775 (talk) 10:19, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
- No, it wasn't a major operation. It was a very minor operation indeed. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:26, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
